We planned to stay at Twin Lotus for one week, but finally we managed to escape from the place and went to Pimalai Resort&Spa. We booked our trip based on the nice pictures on the web site, which turned out to be "fake". We booked an expensive village bungalow with tons of mosquito’s (probably due to bad garden maintenance). The hotel restaurant was closed down and all they could offer was a bad beach restaurant. We stayed at Sheraton Krabi resort one week in advance and we paid the same price for a 5 star place compared to the 2 star place Twin Lotus. When we came to Pimalai we were in heaven...........almost to the same price as Twin Lotus. Hereby be warned!! Best Regards from Roger, Norway

The Twin Lotus is a lovely, contemporary, spacious resort at the quieter end of a rather busy beach. It is perhaps a little overpriced for what it is, but even though we were there in peak season, we managed to negotiate a significant discount as the resort wasn't fully booked.

It is a very large property, so the less expensive rooms are a fair way back from the beach. There are bikes that you can use to get around though (easy, as it's completely flat), and smiling staff seem to appear quite frequently in golf buggies to offer lifts too.

The pool is lovely and because the resort grounds are so spread out, we found it fairly peaceful even for peak season. The staff were always very friendly and helpful and always greeted us with a smile.

On the downside, the food (apart from breakfast) was not great and the menu quite limited. The resort is also quite irresponsible environmentally - towels and sheets are changed every day (there is no option to re-use anything as is the case in many hotels these days). Upon arrival at our room, the large wooden tub in the back court yard was being filled with water even though we hadn't requested it, which resulted in a huge waste of water when we emptied it some time later due to the layer of mosquitos, bugs and leaves that had gathered on the surface. While the spa was great for massages (despite the price), beauty treatments are best left for elsewhere.

Overall though, the Twin Lotus is a welcome taste of luxury on an otherwise slightly unappealing and over-developed island.

On the beach there are a lot of hotels and bars. Do not expect to be isolated on an island....
The bungalows are well equiped (decoration is strange...pink chairs, not my taste). It is not value for money. Spa was out of order. The service is too much: you have 5 or 6 peolple around you waiting that you ordered something. Swimming pool is very nice.

We stayed at this resort since I won a 2-night/3-day stay at their Suite, and extended and paid for another 2-nights.

For the price, I must say that the staff are always on their toes and efficient. Though, everyday we had to call them in to sort out the jacuzzi, because everytime it was drained and cleaned, the jets won't work. You see, after draining it, they had to refill the tub, it also 'emptied' the hot water boiler, which, we had to call on the staff to sort out. In any case, it was always done efficiently. Food was good, the Filipino Band was very entertaining, the spa was excellent,... the only set back though minor, was our trip back to the airport from the resort. Though, our flight was only at 6.50 pm via Thai AirAsia, we left at 2.00 pm to give us time for any delays that we might encounter with the ferry.... little did we know that our minivan transfer, provided by the resort...forget to fill up the tank! So...about 30km short to the Krabi Int'l Airport, did the van die out...and it died out about 1 km away from the Gas Station! Our driver was nice and told to wait for 15 minutes, and true to his word we were on our way in 15 mintues! Oh well...
