I have been meaning to write this reveiw for sometime... we first stayed at the Narima April 2007 and had a fantastic time. Great food, service, massage, Songkran beach bar-be-que. So we decided to go back for Christmas with some family members who came out to visit us. We had been told that at Christmas time they do a beach bar-b-que as they had done at Songkran.

We were disappointed from the outset as we weren't greated by a local, instead a teenager from Bristol. Part of the experience of coming to Thailand is to experience the Thai hospitality and whilst the farangs working there were friendly and helpful, it really watered everything down for us. The next disappointment was that there was no Christmas Bar-b-que planned - nothing. Christmas eve they put up a tree but it was all very low key. So the Christmas day we had expected and planned for our family did not happen. It was all very low key which may suit some people but not what we had experienced the Songrkan before.

The food also did not seem as good as the visit before but this could have been due to the slight sour taste in our mouths. The service was very slow also. The owners were no where to be seen which I suppose is why nothing had been planned for Christmas and why we were greated by a 15 year old from Western Super Mare instead of a wai and glass of water from a local.

I wanted to write this review as I think the Narima is a great place and has a lot going for it - good for families especially and not so good for a romantic break for two (due to the number for children who occupy the small pool). But I think that the service was so poor last time we stayed that I think we will try a new place to stay our next visit to Lanta (we live in Thailand).
We were mainly disappointed by the fact there were so many Westerners working there which totally diluted any authentic Eastern experience for our visitors staying which was disappointing.

We recently stayed at the Narima for 4 days, we absolutely loved it. One of the friendliest places we have ever stayed and not just in Thailand, which i have to say is down to Nopawan. We were only there a short time and wanted to make the best of our stay, she was just so helpful, way beyond what you would ever expect. We visited nearby caves which was a real adventure you could hire a bike from the Narima or otherwise they would order a taxi for you, this trip would have really generated very little if anything for the Narima and was a real highlight to our holiday. The accomodation was lovely, the setting is beautful and the views just wonderful. Every member of staff was helfpul and friendly, the food was excellent, and we just loved every minute of our stay. Try this place it is just fabulous.

We expressed our gratitude to Nopawan when we left, she organised our departure to Krabi and waved us off. But if you are reading this thank you so much for a truly magical holiday, we just wished we could have had more time with you.

Having researched Narima extensively before we booked (as well as countless other places on Koh Lanta), we had a very good understanding of the style and decoration of the resort. However, nothing prepared us for the ambience and absolutely delightful owners who, although a little "snowed under" due to the temporary loss of two staff members, proved to be absolutely delightful, particularly Nopawan. "Wan" as she advised was easier to call her, had an intimate understanding of the area, tours and eating places. Not only that, the office stored everything from umbrellas, hats and creams (you never know what the weather will do!) The pool, which some may comment is cool in temperature, was excellently filled with mountain water - a welcome change from the salty sea. Narima is unspoilt and unpretentious, with a smiling welcome from owners and staff alike. Loved every moment of it.

“Great Food and forest scenery”

Narima Bungalow Resort

Mar 28, 2008

Amazing huge restaurant serving fantastic food - reasonably priced. Lovely cottages with great balconies set in 'forest scenery' try to get a sea view - they are gorgeous. Helpful friendly staff. Only downside is rocky beach and the pool was rather chilly but short walk / scooter round the corner to other great beaches. Beautiful quiet part of the Island. Great massages. Gorgeous beach bar. The family who run the hotel are so lovely and it is the touches like free fruit / water on a table that make such a difference. While we were there they organised a free trip to the local town for full moon party.
Our toddler loved running through the forest to our hut, playing in the pool... we loved delicious food on moon lit, beach view balcony resting in a hammock!

“The setting makes up for all”

Narima Bungalow Resort

Mar 26, 2008

We were very unhappy when we first arrived at Narima as we were kept waiting quite long for checkin, while being really hot and tired from the journey there. Then we discovered that our very expensive A-row bungalow was right next to the pool (quite a few kiddies around) and afforded no peace or privacy.

The woman at reception was incredibly unfriendly and bolchy, but the owner herself was nice on the rare occasion she was around. She arranged for us to move to a quieter bungalow the next day, which was much better.

What I can say is that the setting is superb. Yes, quite removed, but we loved it. The beach is very pretty, especially at sunset. We enjoyed the bar, and the restaurant was also excellent, with their Thai options being quite reasonably priced.

The dive centre at Narima is top-notch too.
