Perfect. Adults only. Beach soft and wide. Sea warm.
One is collected from Krabi airport by the luxury hotel mini bus, driven for an hour or so to the ferry point where the hotel launch awaits to spirit you around to the hotel. One alights onto the soft beach and up to the hotel, for welcome drinks and a chat with the staff before being shown to one's room. I really cannot fault our first floor suite, overlooking the lawn (the beach rooms are a bit crowded and not worth paying extra for) huge terrace, lovely bathroom, very good beds, they have duvets! So we asked for just a sheet to cover. Air con cools but is just a bit noisy for the sensitive ears of one's husband! Tea, coffee, milk all supplied and unlimited bottled water. This is not a huge resort but it is nicely spaced and very laid back.
The spa is reasonably priced too - most unusual - book the moment you get there or before by e-mail. Friday is 2 for 1.
I really cannot fault the accommodation, my only comment to the extremely efficient, German, Swiss trained hotel general manager was that towel rails might be better than hooks, to save the damage hooks can do.
The restaurant facing the sea has seats in or out side. At night we did find the lighting, candles just a bit too dim if outside. Plenty of choice on the menu. Breakfast brilliant. Dinner good, fish always available.
Laundry service is fairly priced and amazing.
Pool has plenty of sun beds and more on the beach. The odd snack and towels are offered and water is constantly topped up.
I really cannot find fault with anything, if only all hotels were so good.
We would return if planes would go faster, isn't it amazing in 35 years it still takes 11+ hours to fly from UK to the East!

Room Tip: Follow Trip Advisors contributors advice, we did, 1st floor, on the left side (when facing the hotel...

From the minute we drove down the driveway leading to the magnificent Layana Resort and Spa we knew we had found heaven! On first impressions the resort grounds are lush, spacious, green, quiet and immaculately kept. Staff welcome you with peaceful smiles, a cold towel and drink before you are introduced to the manager and given a tour of the facilities before being assisted to your room. The rooms are tastefully furnished in keeping with classic resort Thai style, beautiful, timeless and with all amenities that could possibly be needed for your stay. Upon walking around the gardens you get the true sense of peace that the resort offers, despite being a full house you feel as though your the only ones there (even when you see staff or other guests), the pool and beach areas are just stunning, perfect for relaxing with ample staff whom are kind, softly spoken and nonintrusive in offering drinks or assistance. A visit to the truly amazing spa is a must for both men and women, you will be so spoilt, the spa manager takes such pride in her work and her staff, she treats them as family and it shows as they all look happy and relaxed giving you a feeling of comfort and relaxation. The restaurant setting is beautiful and ensures plenty of room between tables for privacy whilst you dine looking out at the glimmering ocean..... Seriously this place is a dream come true! If the facilities described are not enough to temp you then come for the staff, the personal service, the way they make you feel like they care, they know you and that they are your friend, the staff are truly superb. We just could to fault this resort and still dream about it everyday, of which we will continue to do until the day we return........ Thank you Layana, don't change a thing!

Room Tip: All are private and beautiful.

Stayed 3 nights. We have visited other beaches on the island and like this stretch the best. Nice manicured garden, spacious comfortable room with humongous bed. Great level of service everywhere at the resort. Spa was only ok for me as I had better elsewhere, however, prices are very reasonable for a luxury spa.
This resort is great for those who wants to have a relax AND quiet getaway. 3 nights is just nice for us as we are starting to get bored by the end of the 3rd day. Though the resort is perfect in everyway in terms of it's service, room, ground and beach, it lacks a certain vibe.... Probably cause the resort is an all adult resort (18 yrs and abv), people who visit are probably in their retirement age (mostly) or on honeymoon..
Do rent a bike and go around the island.

If your looking for that perfect getaway, pristine white beaches, aquamarine blue warm sea, staying in an adults only luxury hotel, then look no further.
I wanted to visit Krabi for a short break, and chose the Layana Resort from the reviews given on TripAdvisor, at the time, the No.1 Hotel in the area. The price was very reasonable for this styleof resort, so I had my reservations, however I had nothing to worry about.
I requested the resort to arrange transportation from and to the airport, and was a little worried when I arrived and no representative was waiting. However, just a few moments later - there was my ride (a slight mix up with terminals), it was a very nice mini-van, with cooling towel, leather reclining seats, water and a raise/lower TV with movies - amazing. The ride did take 2 hours, but I was warned, but I traveled in comfort.
On arriving at the hotel, you are greeted with warm friendly smiles, another cooling towel and a cool beverage. Check-in was like falling off a log, very smooth, and moments later you are whisked off to your accommodation via an electric buggy.
The main room is huge, with many facilities and furniture. A choice of pillow is also available, as well as a fully stocked mini-bar. The resort is small, only one restaurant, but the menu changes every night. The staff are simply excellent, and will assist you in every way they can, and always with a smile. I wish my stay had been longer. I shall definitely plan to return again some time in the near future. Thank you to all the staff at Layana Resort.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but try to get an inner garden view

Gorgeous beach right in front of the hotel - nice soft white sand, long, quiet (no other resorts packed right next to it - maybe they were closed in this period) Felt like you were on yor private beach. Wonderful sunset views... Great staff and service. Breakfast was also very nice, but we were not impressed with the dinner (at least the Western dishes). We had dinner in the hotel first night, then tried out new places outside hotel for that reason.
All in all super positive experience!

Layana, on initial inspection we though it looked a little characterless and were worried we wouldn't feel like we were in Thailand. We considered Pimalai but having read a trip advisor review comparing the two we took the plunge.

Layana was totally worth it, every detail considered every need catered for. Beautiful pool, super beach with cold towels, ice water and fruit for you delivered to your matress complimentary, excellent rooms and brilliant restaurant choice.

We rented bicycles, scooters and even did 2 of the yoga classes. I can't recommend these experiences enough, yoga was divine as was our thai massage on the beach (impressed this option as well as spa were available). The beach bar is great for lunch when you have got too hot and the main restaurant beautifully positioned for breakfast and dinner.

Welcome was execellent and we were looked after from start to finish, I highly recommend this hotel and Ko Lanta as a whole, definitely get on a scooter and go round the island! Excellent value and holiday all round!

We always have a 4 day break here in April during our holidays in Thailand, it's the perfect get away from the busy Ao Nang, it's our little treat, The first time here last year blew our mind, & this year service was better, I thought it would be impossible to improve , there had been some refurbish work done & the new bar area was really well set out. The pool is lovely & overlooks the long sandy beach, towels, water & fruit are provided during the day, The breakfast is the best we have ever had in a hotel, lots of choice & excellently cooked, I must mention the peppered snapper & chocolate brownies, just sublime, I could have ate them all, also the banana smoothies was amazing & the waiter I think called solae brought us 1 over every morning even when they wasn't on the menu, a nice touch, it's set in a lovely beach which I had a jog along. They also hired a scooter for us which was good fun & got us around the island or 350 Bt a day, we went on the morning bike ride which was 8-9.30 am, but was back at 8.40, found this strange as we paid for a hour & half trip, perhaps we was quicker than average but they could have took us else where for 45 mins, also must thank them for bottle of wine in arrival , we drank it on our balcony overlooking the pristine gardens , keep up the good work, nice to see Jimmy again , a gent as always ;-)
