Sri lanta is at the quieter, picture postcard ,end of Lanta island and has managed to avoid ,so far, the fast encroaching, concrete, mass tourism.
The resorts land is obviously a prime developers site ,and it is only time before it too, has rows and rows of battery hen style apartments bunged on it.Right now, it is resisting this and remains a beautiful place. If you like tower blocks, luxury and no bugs, please go to bangkok and benidorm ,and leave this enchanting place to people who can love its peace .If you do come here try to remember a lot of your buck goes towards keeping the extensive amount of private space, and try not to moan about perceived lack of value for money .In this over crowded world we are having to pay for this natural jungle location.
I got the impression that management here are now,for whatever reason, just focusing on milking every bit of cash out of their customer and some of the notices around the place have echos of grumpy seaside landlady about them. The staff were very helpfull friendly and eager to please ,but not very experienced. The sort of place that employs cheap labour and has a fast turnover of staff.
Sri lanta needs some TLC from its owners and appreciation from us guests.
Somebody had a wonderful ecological idea when they created this resort and it is very sad to see it struggling.
Stunning scenery, privacy, nature, rustic comfort...What more could anyone want?..
