We went there expecting real Thai food since we moved to Lantas Lodge and because our favorite Thai kitchen stall across the Swiss "Grüzi" restaurant and directly next to the Yamaha shop was too far away. In fact, they do not even possess an English name for their restaurant, however their food is probably the best on the entire island as it is real, traditional Thai food and not not adjusted to the typical tourist demands. Moreover, this is the only place with local prices, that is, you pay for an average meal not more than 50 BHT. At the same time you gethigh quality and fairly sized portions.
So after reading the comments about may's kitchen we had very similar exceptions and unfortunately none of them were met. Still, compared to other restaurants, may's kitchen is definitely a less expensive option and serves probably still better "Thai food" (if you want to call it that way) than any other typical tourist restaurants near by. The staff was also quite friendly in my opinion. Thus, if you want to have moderate Thai food at a low to moderate price then may's kitchen will be a valid option.
