“Could have done without”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

We had fried cashews to start with to nibble on. They must have been fried in oil they also fry chips in as the nuts were tasting of chips.

My lemongrass, mushroom, prawn soup had mushrooms in of which I'm pretty sure they were out of a tin. Also it would have been great to have some more vegetables in it.

The service however was very attentive and friendly. Even though the one of them who didn't speak / understand too much English took our order and got it wrong. Didn't understand why not one of the others who's English was perfect took our order.

All in all a very disappointing dinner.

“Hotel restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

My food had too much soy sauce. Not tasty at all. Service was slow. Restaurant is located next to the pool of the resort. Thus, not a nice atmosphere/location.
Koh Lanta has tons of much better restaurants.

“Come in and find out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

Normally as a tourist you try finding some nice places for dinner in the town center! That's what we did as well!! We found some good food along the beach where many restaurants are located!! But there is one special place on Ko Lanta that is not located that obviously but therefore a treasure. It's the Chomtalay! It's beatifully located on the site of the Moonlight Exotic Resort and welcomes guests with a lovely seaview! But that's just the beginning. The staff are really polite and helpful, the chefs in the kitchen cook great Thai food and if you want even good western food. We always asked for the catch of the day and had never been disappointed. The menu changes on a daily basis! And after dinner relocate to the Rocky Bar which is a stone's throw away! Ask for Bob's cocktails and then just relax on huge cushions or directly at the bar! It's a tremendous atmosphere at the seaside! After we had discovered this place we were there several times! It's definitly worth to discover this combination! For us it was the best food on the island and one of the most lovely places!!! And if Ken is around, entertainment is included!!

“Tasty food, great service, excellent value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2011

We had many meals at Chomtalay since we were staying at Moonlight Resort for a week. The menu has a wide selection of Thai and western food, we had mostly thai and seafood which were always great. Ask Ken, the manager, for his daily recommendation and you won't regret it ! Staff is extremely kind, welcoming and family friendly. Nice seating area overlooking the ocean which also gets cosy outdoor atmosphere at night with lid candles.
