“Obviously a Labour of Love”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

While staying at a hotel on Khlong Nin on Koh Lanta, my wife and I stopped by the local Shanti Shanti for a snack. First, a few comments on the decor would be in order. Someone has scrounged the tables, the chairs and the wall hangings from dozens of visits to flea markets, probably in Bangkok. The effect is strongly retro, with an atmosphere redolent of the 1950s.

Now for the refreshments. I ordered a crêpe that was spread with Bonne Maman apricot jam. It was wonderful. My wife asked the propriator if her ginger/pineapple/lime drink could be served without the ginger. She got a negative reply, and found the concoction undrinkable. I was able to get it down, but the ginger and the pineapple refused to coexist peacefully. Finally, I had an ice cream cone containing the manager's artisanale ice cream. This was very tasty, although a bit soft, and ran repeatedly down the side of the cone in the tropical heat. Still, it was quite refreshing.

“Excellent food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

We came here because of the TA reviews and were very impressed. The owners are the chefs and servers so the service can be a bit slow, but we were happy and relaxed and didn't mind waiting for our drinks ect.
What we ordered
1.) fruit, musli and yogurt = beautiful, spectacular, amazing!! Many fruits, perfect musli, huge portion
2.) chef salad = delicious, ample portion, fresh and highly recommended.
3.) daily special filet of beef = tender, cooked and spiced to perfection. The roasted potatoes that came with were perfect.
The ice cream, iced coffee, banana crepe were all just as delicious!
Highly recommended!

“Not sure what all the fuss is about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

We stopped here for ice cream and yes it was lovely ice cream, but they forgot our shake and had no coffee (for which they are famed). Nice enough, but don't understand their number 2 status for eating out on Lanta
