“First class dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

We are here after Red Snapper was recommended to us by a friend who had previously visited Ko Lanta. I was advised to book as it gets busy so I did so via email, receiving a prompt and friendly reply.
On the night we arrived we were the only ones in the restaurant but it soon filled up, keeping the efficient and friendly waiting staff busy.
The restaurant is in a tropical garden with intimate lighting, and is towards the south end of Long Beach.
The menu has both tapas style small dishes and larger main courses so we opted for a couple of the tapas as a starter then had mains.
We had bread, olives and aioli and a Parma ham and mango salad to start which were both great. Then we had duck breast and steak which were both not only huge but delicious as well. The only negative was that the steak was ordered medium but was more like medium rare. This in no way affected the delicious flavour though.
This restaurant is one of the more pricey ones around but the excellent service and food reflects that, and it is still much cheaper than a similar meal in the UK would set you back. 2 starters, 2 mains, a shared dessert, coffees and a bottle of wine set us back around 2500b which I felt was reasonable. Do come here if you visit Ko Lanta but make sure to book!

“Nicely presented tapas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Our expectations weren't high having spent a lot of time in Spain. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The garlic prawns were flavourful and tender, and the croquettes were also very good.

It's a little out of the way south of Long Beach, but worth it if you're looking for a change.

“We love Thai food but here the steak is to die for...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

We were recommended this restaurant by our fantastic hoteliers Nick and Melissa at the Mook Lanta - it was under a minute walk away. Don't get me wrong we love being authentic and eating local Thai food but we fancied a change so went to Red Snapper for a western meal.
Wow the steak is just devine! We'd been in previously for a quick late night snack of some v tasty prawns and after seeing the menu and food on offer we knew we must return. I wanted my partner and I to order two different meals (so we could try both) however we just could not resist the fab steak on offer so had the same.
Ok is a bit more expensive than your average restaurant but it is not your average restaurant by a long shot! (Plus its much cheaper than you'd pay for a steak at home)Great setting, excellent service and really wonderful steak.Plus had a lovely glass of red! Highly recommend.
P.S if the owners are reading - look after the newly weds Nick and Mel they really plug you and deservedly so! Thanks for a fantastic meal.

“Lovely Mediterranean food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

Set in a nice garden this place serves cheeses, cold cuts and other mediterranean food. For us the highlights were the salads. The watercress, salad and roquette used by this restaurant is organically homegrown by a French/Thai couple who have their garden on the island of Ko Lanta itself. So not only healthy salads but also salads with a very small ecological food print. Highly recommended.

“Very good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

We had a dinner here and were very pleased with this somewhat "hidden" spot. Not all the dishes are great, but majority of them will put a smile on your face. Try the quesadilla!
