I stayed at Khlong Kong before moving down here. I like it here much better. The surrounding area is more like a little town (rather than a long strip of hustle and bustle as it is to the north). The beach itself is very nice. (Generally the beaches on Lanta are nicer and quieter as you move south.) Especially, nice about Khlong Nin is that you can swim no matter what the tide is doing. It's a shallow sloping sandy beach. I'm staying at "The Hut," in an inexpensive bungalow with a great restaurant. It's more "Buddha" here than "Rasta," and the -younger- people who own and run it (Eak, Lois, and Ton) are really gracious.
Whats great about Lanta is that you can probably find the beach you're looking for: if you want a lot of activity, stay north, if you want seclusion move south, for something in between, stay in Khlong Nin.
