At my stay at Sunset Bungalows in the Klong Nin beach area of Koh Lanta, I came from horrible dirty and dark bungalows at Kentiang Bay Resort, where I spent an intire night itching from something unidentified in the bed, so this was definately a great change of accomodation.
There are not too many bungalows, but they are all nice and clean, the ones I saw with a double bed and a large single bed, so actually enough room if you are travelling 3 people. They have good sized bathrooms with hot shower, tv, WIFI, and a small terrace.
We were there in beginning of low season, so there was no restaurant open, but I think there might be one in high season, -anyways, they had a really lovely terasse on the beach where we took the liberty to drink some chilled wine that we brought with us. There are no fridges in the rooms, but the land lady were so kind to lend us both an ice box and a toaster, so we could save some money and have a proper (non-thai style) breakfast, which I especially like after eating nutritionless white bread-dead eggs diabetes thai breakfast for 7 months....:)
Anyway, we only paid 400 baht pr night, and I think this is pretty much the best you will get for this price on the island. The roundhouse a few meters down the road have nice, also clean bungalows, a little more simple and small, and with an 'open' bathroom, but you will probably be able to always get it around 100 baht cheaper. Nice too though, a little more boheme'ish looking.
I give my best recommendations for Sunset Bungalows.
There is a travelling agency a bit further down the road towards north, -of course I forgot the name, its on the same side of the road just across from a massage parlour, but the lady in there was so nice and helped the four of us, all going in different directions with such great knowledge and patience, and she even came to see us off at the bungalows in the morning, Really good service, and if you are looking for help, this is definately the place to go, so sorry I forgot the name, will post again if I remember later!
The room we stayed in had no air con, but was still nice and fresh with a cool breeze from the ocean...
