We felt so lucky to have been told about this place by chance on a boat from Ko Ngai to Ko Lanta. We had done a lot of research on Thailand and Ko Lanta seemed a good place to go although we had struggled to find the ideal place to stay so had only booked somewhere for the first couple of nights in the hope of finding paradise once there.

Thank goodness for the recommendation it was EVERYTHING we were looking for. All I had hoped for and much more than I expected.

Beautiful, stylish bungalow accommodation.
Modern, clean bathroom.
On the beach with great views out to sea.
A beach that's big, clean and unspoiled - peaceful!
Beach hammocks to read your book in.
Great pool.
Good food.
Personal service.
Boutique accommodation without breaking the bank.
Somewhere away from it all but close enough if we fancied a night out.

La Laanta gave us all of this and so much more by way of the friendly staff and fantastic owners Patrick and Tony.

It is at the very end of the island but this is what makes it so wonderful. If you do want to explore the sea is right there and boats stop on your doorstep to pick you up. If you want to explore other parts of the island they will always happily organize transport and if you fancy eating somewhere else (just for a change as I sometimes do) there are a couple of places at the other end of the beach which are a lovely moonlit walk away.

We absolutely recommend La Laanta and feel so grateful for the experience and word of mouth recommendation.

I thought long and hard about whether to write this review or not.

On the one hand I don't want to tell anyone about how fantatsic La Laanta is because now that I have found this wonderful secret hideaway, I want to keep it all to myself. But, on the other hand I feel I owe it to everyone at La Laanta to ensure they succeed with their incredible resort.

We arrived here stressed and dissapointed by our time on Koh Samui. The moment we set foot in La Laanta, June (one of the owners) simply said forget about Samui, you are at La Laanta now and everything is wonderful. She was so warm and welcoming we did exactly that and before we knew it we were enjoying the incredible food and gazing out at the beautiful secluded beach.

The bungalows are wonderfully simple and stylish and most have a view of the ocean. they have a DVD and book library, Internet PC and they even have wifi!

We were blessed with 8 days of fabulous weather during our stay which made our time even more exquisite. The staff at La Laanta are very accommodating and very friendly without being intrusive in anyway.

One day we asked if we could have a fire on the beach the following night and June and Tony (one of the owners) said without hesitation "that's sounds great why don't we have a BBQ on the beach as well". It was incredible. All the staff came down and cooked for us and then we all sat around and talked and ate and drank and watched the fire and listened to the ocean for hours. The staff stayed too and it was great to share the experience with everyone.

Everyday we were there we thought to ourselves... I guess we should hire a bike today and go and explore the island... or maybe we should go out to dinner somewhere different... but to be honest with you we just loved the place so much and the food was so great and the beach so secluded and private and perfect that we simply had no reason to leave. So we didn't. If we had wanted to however, the staff would have taken us wherever we wanted to go on Koh Laanta.

For 8 days we completely relaxed and recharged our batteries and thought of nothing but what to have for lunch or what pool to swim in or how many walks on the beach should we have today.

This place really does have that desert island feel about it. It's literally built right on the beach and there are hammocks swinging amongst the trees on the sand and two gorgeous pools looking out to the ocean. On our last night June who is from Vietnam cooked us a Vietnamese feast. We could easily have stayed a month.

Do yourself a huge favour and don't walk but run to this wonderful place.

I stayed at LaLaanta with my boyfriend at the end of April 08 after booking directly through the resort.
Patrick who is one of the owners was incredibly patient with my many questions. At my time of booking (Early March) there were no reviews posted, and I could barely find any information other than what was on the website www.lalaanta.com (stunning photography, was worried it was too good to be true!!) so i wanted to know a few things before I committed.

I knew from the emails back and forth that this was going to be a special trip, and I was not wrong.

I'll skip the raving about how lovely everyone is, but I will pay a special mention to Patrick, Tony, Jun, Kong and the other gorgeous staff that help them run such an amazing resort. Love the bar boys dance moves!

What I will add to this growing list of fabulous reviews are some facts that make this place stand out.

Perfectly designed and fitted bungalows. You have everything you need, with a super comfy bed, air con, huge shower, bath (if you choose that option), balcony, amazing lemongrass toiletries and the all important mini fridge for storing any drinks you might pick up outside the resort. I highly reccomend M-150 energy drinks and SPY wine cooler!

Everything gets cleaned daily so no sandy bits get in the bed and you can relax once you go to sleep. Also you get some bottles of water daily in your room, which is really important in the hot months in Thailand. The place is spotless.

The food is INCREDIBLE. LaLaanta do not dumb down the dishes for the embarrasingly pathetic European palate. It's traditional Thai food with the traditional amount of spice.
Ask for not so spicy if you can't handle it (there is a chilli guide on the menu), if you don't ask it will come out Thai style!
Your head will be blown off by the yellow curry, but persevere and it's really delicious!
Do try the Penang Curry which is hands down the best thing I have eaten in Thailand.

Anything can be organised easily with the resort, be it a snorkelling trip to Koh Rok (one of my fave days), renting a scooter to drive around the island (they rescued us when we ran out of fuel at night) or a ferry trip back to the mainland.

Basically you will get here and never want to leave. Even the dogs are adorable. I totally regret leaving to go and see Phi Phi and I cried when we left!!

It's intimate enough so that you never feel like you are just a number, you'll get to know the people there and feel right at home.
You will also love the sounds of the jungle as this resort is right next to the national park which is teaming with wildlife. I saw monkeys, a deer, lizards and LOTS of assorted bugs.

Another quality to mention is that when they built the resort they didn't have to cut down a single tree. (actually maybe one for the pool, but that's it.). That's testament to the fact that the wonderful LaLaanta team care about Koh Lanta and care about creating a stunning retreat for all to enjoy.
It also means you are not living in a concrete jungle and it looks like it blends in with nature.

I will definitely be back. I miss everyone and I wish them all the success they deserve with LaLaanta.

This accomodation situated right at the end of Koh Lanta, is a fantastic secluded getaway. The facilities are top notch, with a fantastic infintiy pool overlooking the ocean.

I initially thought that staying so far from Koh Lanta town would prove an issue when it came to meal time. But the food produced by the chefs at LaLaanta were some of the best meals we had in Thailand! Great quality and reasonably priced.

With the new roads scheduled to be built in 2009, this place will be a lot easier to access, and will become a favourite of many tourists to Koh Lanta.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and the managers are kind, and always there to help and assist is anyway possible. I would thoroughly recommend any couples who are looking for a memorable getaway to stay at Lalaanta in Koh Lanta
