“Kids enjoyed the ride”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Ok this was our first time up close to Thai elephants. So this ride was great for that.

It is on a cement path which winds a bit, but is fairly basic. Lots of mud off the track so better to have the path than not. Not much to see on or off the path.

The water crossing was dirty and not worth the second trip thru.
We didn't like the pressure to purchase necklaces etc which our guide stopped the elephants for. We didn't get the photos either as they were really over priced.

We didn't see the monkey dance, what we could see looked a bit sad...

“Elephant rode = good, sneaky ivory sales = NOT”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

The elephant ride was pretty good. It would have been nicer if the trail was more scenic with more open river views as well as jungle. Wildlife sightings (like monkeys!) would have put it over the top.

As with one of the previews reviewers, the guide offered me ivory trinkets on the sly. (What the...?) And he was quite persistent. I kept saying no, yet he kept pushing the stuff at me. This has to stop. Management needs to crack down.

“Ivory Sales”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

My friend and I also visited the elephant village for an elephant ride after seeing the floating markets. We were happy to pay the extra cost and buy some bananas for the elephants and the ride was great, the elephants also seemed to be well cared for. The massive issue I have with this tour was the guide offered us ivory jewellery and said the money went towards food for the elephants. He didn't do this in front of anyone else and they don't sell ivory in the souvenir shop but I imagine this is quite common, I just read a blog from someone who said they were offered 'souvenirs' half way around the tour also. When I mentioned that it was wrong to to sell ivory he seemed quite annoyed and didn't speak to us again. I wasn't able to speak to anyone else there as we had to get straight on our bus back to Bangkok. I am now looking into this and encourage anyone else who has had this experience to speak up. We cannot allow the sale of ivory products to continue, especially in a place that is claiming to be rescuing and caring for elephants.

“Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

For animal lovers, this is a great experience. Besides the ride, which was very comfortable, also the feeding the animals was lots of fun.
