“Largest ancient sitting buddha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

Largest ancient and it was built evwn beforee the Ayutthaya is established. Long history and also interesting due to the tie of the relationship with Chinese culture the building is new bit the buddha statue isnt which is the must. Must see for all the day tripper to ayuttaya.

“Looks new for a very very old temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

When we first arrived, we thought this temple was rather new, well compared to the ruins of Ayutthaya, that was until we got a book introducing Ayutthaya. This temple was build in the 14th century and it was related to the Admiral Zheng He who came and restored part of the Buddha. so this temple was heavily influence by the Chinese culture. The Buddha here is even larger than the one in Wat Phra Mongkhon Bophit. worth a short trip.

“Huge but not a must see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

People do worship here and tour busses are constantly stopping (tour bus merchandise tents are a hint). But there is a huge Buddha inside and there was a monk talking to the Thai children, which was cute. Tis is a must see if you are not going to see any temples in BKK, otherwise focus on the history in this city instead.

“Thailand's largest ancient Buddha”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

When you are in the area you must stop here. The size of the Buddha is impressive. In addition you can watch visitors throwing scarves to aiders standing on the huge sculpture, wrapping those drapery around the Buddha. Next to this main attraction you'll find other Buddhas there as well. In the buildings around there are ceremony rooms with unbelivable architecture and fine art which are in my opinion at least as interesting as the temple itself.
I recommand to book a boat tour on the river starting in the afternoon (around 4 pm) where for example this temple is the first stop, followed by Wat Phuttai Sawsn, passing the christian Saint Joseph's Church and enjoying the phantstic scenario of a sundown at Wat Chaiwattanaram!
