“Resort is good, Pls don't go by old reviews!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

After reading few good out of lots of bad reviews about Green Acres Resort (GA Resort), i still decided to go-ahead with the booking, that too for 2 nights stay at kodaikanal. Searched few travel sites, Makemytrip, cleartrip and goibibo and finally booked through goibibo. BUT TO MY SURPRISE, WHEN I CALLED AT RESORT A Day Before, THEY DIDN'T CONFIRM THE BOOKING. Then chased with goibibo and booking was confirmed. My advice is, book through TravelGuru, on reaching resort, i asked at reception, why my booking was not confirmed, he said that they have good ties with Travel guru not with goibibo. then i asked why your hotel was listed on goibibo site, he said, probably, goibibo inturn refers to travel guru..ok i didnt bother much about his words, as we were in good mood after seeing the resort.

Ok, coming to resort stay, its situated at awesome location, right opposite to lake. For lake view, you have to book lake view rooms. i booked standard room. Ambience was quite nice, calm and clean, while entering in resort, i was well greeted with "Namastay", went to reception and room was given within 5 minutes. (I also called resort on the way that we will be reaching approx at 3 PM, so keep the room blocked, as the check-in time was 12 noon)

Entered in the room, room was neat and spacious like anything, it looks like 20x12 room. bathrooms were clean, towels, soap and oil were neatly kept at their respective places (like some fellows said negative about this, so thought of mentioning it).

Gardens are well maintained. They have bourne fire available on-request. Cottages are good. Overall good, i think they are improved now.

ROOM SERVICE, little can be improved, but its good, as restaurant is little far from std rooms. but food options are very limited. (Means Very limited) but tastes good. since we are from North india, so ordered some north dishes, and it was good in taste.

Next day breakfast, South style, DOSA Idly only available, it was yummy in taste. But rate list is high in the sky.

For children, they have children play area, my kid was not willing to leave that place and go to Brynt park.
Check-out was smooth..AMPLE and safe parking... you may face little communication problem with room service staff as they communicate in local language.

Room Tip: if budget allows, get lake view room and book through Travelguru. No swimming pool, i mistakenly cli...

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2011

Sometime after 2007 when we had been there for our 1st anniversary with my wife we had found the exp good. In Nov 2010, we thought we will repeat the experience again considering it was decently placed in terms of both pricing, location( it’s in a pristine corner location of the overall star fish shaped lake), layout (has a good out-front and a spacious campus ) and ok amenities .Fast forward to 2010 and we again wanted a quick one day trip based on our previous experience and I wanted to show my parents how Kodai was.And what better what to perhaps check in a time tested property .I called up the manager Swaminathan who did remember me when we were there last and he confirmed my booking as well with a negotiated rate .
So far so good.
What followed was sheer horror as we reached. While the ambience was pleasant (it was foggy and raining constantly in Kodai), there was just no one at the reception. Since maybe it was a lean period, we thought that it could be an aberration. But from then on it was systemic
1. No hot water .After 5 reminders with staff who had limitations understanding other then the local language we got a puny of hot water in a jug for 3 people...so much so for service
2. Room service was nonexistent – the phone in the room was not working .Basic hygiene factors like soap, toilet paper ,towel, which you can find anywhere was missing in the hotel . Trash collection was nonexistent. Even to ask for drinking water was too much for asking
3. The room space was spacious ..but the interiors of even cottages are so ordinary .there are no keys to cupboards , windows have not been dusted. Not many electric pts
4. Since it was raining badly, we thought we will order for hotel food. We ordered for plain rice, vegetables and dal .The quantity was ok, but the food quality was so horribly oily...all of us had a mini bout of diarrohea (and to think of it they were checking for Lunch as well..am sure we would have been totally down had we taken invite ).And even the room tea which came was cold and inadequate to be even had by us.
5. After all this when I tried calling Swaminathan ( who was away in Chennai) to intervene and help, the phone did not go thru and till date he has not acknowledged the 2 smses I had sent to ask for improvement of services
6. Management also plays mental games with allocation of room and somehow felt that while in the 1st strip we had this confusion on the final room allocated – they block something and give you a different room citing previous booking -which I had protested and they have me that room finally – the tendency to show that they have done a favour notwithstanding
To that effect, I can only say that Green Acres being a good quality has actually gone down in its service .even other smaller hotels may have better service .Not sure if this is due to poor management, hotel perhaps closing down or lack of focus in a lean season .whatever the scenery presents gets compensated with utterly poor service. In all – Avoid if you can and take it as last resort

The experience in Green acres is the worst experience I had in my travel life. The check in time of the hotel was 10 AM , even after 10.30 we couldn't get the rooms. Most of us wanted to use toilet (we had Europeans with us). There was only one toilet near the Reception(reception itself looked so bad). The toilet was Indian style and it was not cleaned for at least 2 months for sure. Europeans said they can't go there. And we got 2-3 rooms at 11.30 where we booked 6 rooms!!.

Service: There were no service at all so that I could say anything about service. No hot water in the morning. The guy in the reception continued saying like water will come in 2 minutes but it never came! What a pity for a 2500+Tax rated room!

Hospitality : They never cared for us, even with the presence of Europeans. And the way the staff interacted even the General Manager was poor. ZERO hospitality.

The experience in Green Acres was not so exciting as in Kodai international. The rooms were not as good as it was indicated online. The only plus point was its location. It is situated just near to Lake. The restaurant and room service was average
