“Good budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

I found this hotel to be preety good. Its location is good and opposite to the bus stand. Plenty of good resturants and shops nearby. Kodai lake, bryant park n coalker's walk - walkable distance. Good staff. Being a budget hotel you can't expect much of room service. Rooms were clean but a little too small.

We travelled on May 2nd 2014 Once we reached the hotel the rooms are full and they told that the room which we have booked (slumber in) is very small so they asked us to pay Rs.200 extra so that they will offer us a better room. We got convinced and told us to show the room, it was ok kind of a room and theirs no water facility in the room and they dont have any clue that when will the water will be filled. And suddenly a guy called Ramesh came and told us that they have a separate cottage which will cost us Rs. 200 extra per room where 24hrs water facility will be available and its 1km far away from the current hotel. Since we are with kids we thought it would be a better option and said ok. And they told us to wait for the Manager MR. Vincent . He arrived and the hotel guy explained him everything and the manager told us to pay the difference amount of Rs.2500/- extra. We got surprised and spoke to that guys called Ramesh has told us to pay Rs.200 extra but the manager asked for Rs.2500/- they saw each other face for some time and argued, at last after negotiation we payed Rs. 850 extra and reached the cottage. The outside look of the was excellent it had camp fire facility, beautiful lawn, tree house but once we entered the room ground floor with cooking facility with gas and old model 14 inch TV with Tata sky dish no channels were coming due to no balance. and under ground with double bed and small dressing table win wooden style. But the bathroom door was terrible not able to close fully visible from outside and some body should sing a song or should be giving any noise so that other person never enter.
In ground floor theirs a hand wash once you open the tap the water will flow i basement exactly in the bed which looked terrible. and last day of checkout we wanted to extend one more day wherein the manger Vincent asked us to pay Rs. 4500 extra for two rooms but the other person Ramesh told us to pay Rs. 3000 i don't know whey every time we are facing the same problems. than we dropped the decision and told the manager that we are leaving after few minutes i got a call from the manager and told to pay Rs.3000. we got totally pissed off and vacated. One good thing is the room Boy in cottage Arun was very helpful and Ramesh in their main branch both were very rendered the best service to us.
So i would not suggest this hotel for a family or anybody else. And please do not take room no.7 in that cottage .One of my family member not able to sleep peacefully due to some unwanted and scary dreams. hope some bad things may happened in the past .. be careful..

Room Tip: Do not book Room No.7...and room No.6 bathroom door will not close for sure.

We had booked a room online at snooze inn thru travelguru.com...once we reached the place the lady at the reception had no clue about our booked room and told us that the room we have booked is small and is still occupied and we have to pay the difference amount incase we are opting for another room. She took us to basement where the room was cold and smelling bad and told us to pay 110 per day of difference amount as it was very cold we had asked for another option. She told us that there is another option of a little bigger room which was on the ground floor, the difference amount to be paid for this room was 160 per day. The room number was 6 and as it was the last room in the ground floor the window opened to a narrow opening of the other building where we atleast had some fresh air coming into the room. The room when we entered first was smelling of cigarette smoke, the bathroom was ok ok kinds luckily the hot water was available 24 x 7, the water was yellow in color, the two bathroom towels provided were dirty and there was no toileteries provided. Do not book the place online thinking it to be the cheapest option as they will anyway take the difference amount from you once you reach there. There are decent hotels like astoria veg in the vicinity where the rates charged are quite reasonable for the service they provide. A strict no from me if you are visiting kodaikanal for the first time.

We were a group of friends looking for a cheap yet decent place to put up. The room was neat and clean and basics were in place. We were more of outdoors gang and were looking to go beyond the common tourist spots and if you are also in the same category, the owner is the guy to go to. He has trekked around a lot, knows the villages and routes pretty well and helped us plan a trek on the spot.

This hotel should be 200 rupees. We're the type of people that are not very picky about where we stay... Usually laughing at bad reviews, but this place is BAD. When we checked in, the toilet stated spraying out water all over the bathroom. We were able to change rooms, but the second room smelled bad of sewage, had a view of a concrete wall, flies everywhere, and extremely dirty sheets. To top it off, they explained that we had now moved to a "more expensive room" and would have to pay more. We fought them on paying more and left after a night.
