“Waste”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Nothing to see. Everything is covered and no access to anybody. Its a waste of time to travel all the way and to see everything covered and just go back.

“Kukkal Ridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

this hike starts with traversing the infamous "leech shola", from the Kukkal Dam. On one visit during a relatively "dry" spell, I brushed 80 some off my feet, (I was wearing "leech socks"). A trail through the ancient shola forest leads to a temple/shrine at the highest point of the ridge, and then drops steeply down along the ridge line to a saddle below. The "caves", a formation of several huge rocks that fell to create a shelter underneath are in the vicinity, though I have not made it to them myself. A guide from the town would be needed to locate the caves. The bison population is strong in this area, and a lone bull detered us from hunting for the caves on one visit. A very steep climb back up to return.making this a hike for the truly in shape and committed! This is one of the few areas where the original terrain of grassland and shola is still clear, as it has not been planted at any point. Tahr are also in this area, though hard to see, the droppings are visible at the cliff edges..
