“Perfect staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Having nit been to Bundi before, and being a bit nervous about Dev Niwas (judging by the images from the website), I couldn't have been more wrong. The hotel is perfectly located at the epicenter of everything, the rooms are spotless, but most of all it's the staff. Without exception, the staff are ALL fabulous at Dev Niwas. The Manager Raj is a delight, very, very helpful, and professional with haughtiness alongside. And then there's JP......he makes your heart melt. A wickedly fun sense of humor alongside those gorgeous good looks, JP couldn't be more delightful. if you want a set of staff that you can interact with, Dev Niwas is your hotel. I couldn't recommend it more strongly.

Room Tip: The suites (if affordable for you) are really good value as they three times the size of the deluxe...

Don't judge a book by its cover. The unpretentious entrance hides a truly spectacular building. The inner courtyard is an oasis of calm after negotiating the busy streets of Bundi. The rooms were clean and well laid out and had the right mix of historical charm and modern amenities. The Palace view from the rooftop restaurant is truly spectacular, a must at dawn and dusk. The service was faultless and they looked after our kids really well.
The restaurant menu lacked an all inclusive breakfast and was a little more expensive than others but the quality of the food was the best we had in Rajasthan.

Room Tip: They hire the most modern bikes we saw in Bundi.

We didn't stay here but we did have a long lunch. This was the best meal I had during my entire holiday. The staff were friendly and courteous and kept an eye out for monkies the whole time we were there. Bundi is a wonderful place to visit and I would encourage anyone to come here and eat.

We loved Bundi, we drove from Udaipur, it was a long drive but with so much of rural India to see.
the roof top restaurant is a magical place. The chef, Mangalou made delicious Indian food, both vegetarian and chicken dishes. Our room was very spacious with an excellent shower. Staff were most helpful and we had a most relaxing time. We felt that the meals were excellent and very good..but the prices for tea and coffee were a little high.

Room Tip: all the rooms were quite..take a suite it is worth it.

At Dev Niwas we stayed in a spacious, clean and bright room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the various possibilities to just stay at the hotel: the cool courtyard, the breezy rooftop and the terrace. Every evening we watched the sun set behind the fort: a spectacular view. The Indian dishes prepared by the cook were delicious.

Dev Niwas is a recently-renovated heritage merchants' house in Bundi, one of Rajasthan's most atmospheric and interesting small towns, one hour from Kota and about five/six hours from Jodphur/Udaipur. The walled town itself, with a semi-derelict fort, palace and lake, where Kipling stayed while writing some of the Jungle Book, is well worth a diversion from the normal tourist trail. Dev Niwas is easily the best hotel here, with a courtyard, amply-proportioned rooms, good bathrooms, a superb rooftop terrace with views of the palace and fort, and a superb location off the main run up to the Shiva temple. JP Jain, the manager, is friendly, knowledgable and helpful, and his team are eager to please. The hotel prices represent spectacularly good value at this time, so get there before Dev Niwas becomes famous. Highly recommended!!!!

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are really spacious and look out onto the courtyard, but all the rooms are we...
