“Quaint old homestay on lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

We had one of the better rooms at the top of the property with wonderful views of the 'lake'. The room was basic but had lots of original features and wonderful stained glass windows which cast a beautiful light over the bed in the morning. The family were friendly throughout the stay until the end when, although we were only ever booked for one night because we wanted the second night at Bundi Vilas, we received a bit of a frosty send off! Good value for money.

What a nice place to stay. This is the nicest spot in Bundi, I think. The haveli has a nice garden with only three rooms, with bathroom and you can ask for hot water. The rooms are not very spacious and they don't look very clean. But it's India, and people only clean with cold water. So if you look it that way it really is clean.
Waking up here is very nice and quiet. You can sit by the lake. In the garden Tony, a very friendly man, has his own kitchen and you can start with a nice breakfast or tea!
The owners, an older man and woman, are very friendly.
Really, a nice place to stay!

A nice location by the "lake". Very good breakfast in the garden. Room pretty and characterful.

Lots of road noise (but not exclusive to this accomodation and a good set of ear plugs solves the problem)

Helpful staff.
Plumbing and cleaning not the best but for Rs650/night for a triple room could we expect more.

We paid Rs 300 per night for our room, but I understand this is a low season rate. I would have been happy paying Rs 400 or even Rs 500 for our room.

Quirky room on the roof of a crumbling haveli. The plaster is crumbling and the paintwork is peeling, but it’s very clean and full of character. Good size, light and airey room. There’s a window seat with a view out over the lake.

The elderly couple who run the guest house are warm, friendly, and very welcoming. The younger guy who cooks is also very pleasant and friendly. He takes a long while preparing his food (over an hour even when it was just my husband and I eating) but it is well worth the wait. The pumpkin curry was cooked to perfection. Nice spot in the garden to sit and wait for the food. View of the palace nicely lit up at night.

Despite the fact that it was low season when we visited – too hot and the lake was nearly dry – Bundi was well worth the visit. We spent two nights there but I would have liked to have stayed for longer, just relaxing in our room and in the garden.

The palace and Chitrasala were well worth a visit even though it’s only recently been opened to the public and only parts have been cleaned up and restored. The building is quite magical, as are the views over the town of Bundi in the valley below.

The guest house is in a good location for the old town and the palace.
