“Wonderful Bundi Vilas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We wondered where we were going to end up, walking through a narrow and up hill ally we come across the beautiful entrance to Bundi Vilas. It is truly a treat to stay here. However it takes a while to get used to the solar powered hot water. This is a family run Haveli and has been in the family for 300 years. The bedrooms and bathrooms very nice, clean and comfortble. Bundi is a great town to visit, off the tourist trail. The roof top restaurant is wonderful.

Room Tip: If you are handicapped or find walking difficult, do not choose Bundi Vilas. The only problem would...

We stayed in Bundi Vilas and it has been a gorgeous experience. All the hotel is decorated in an exquisite way, you have the sensation to be in a palace. Everything is clean and in perfect conditions.
The breakfast is great with plenty of choices, don't miss the dinner also at the terrace with terrific views of the palace and Bundi.
The service is very warm and they make your stay the best stay in India.

In this town from another time, you can not imagine finding a good accomodation. However, after climbing a very narrow lane we arrive in this charming old haveli, greeted warmly by the owner with flower necklace and refreshments.
The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated, modern bathroom. On the roof terrace some monkeys come to try to steal everything he found, fun!
We had dinner in the hotel: The food was good and in spite of the fact that it is almost the only restaurant in town, the bill is quite correct (350 rupees / person).
A regret may be the price a bit high of the rooms (Rs 5,000) compared to other more luxurious hotels I could see Rajasthan, certainly due to the fact that there is almost no other hotel of quality in the city.
I highly recommend this hotel which I hope will remain as it is.

This haveli is exquisite. Family owned, you really feel at home. Everyone is absolutely charming. We had an wonderful room, the decoration is lovely, every detail is beautiful. We had the big room right under the roof terrace, which I really loved. And they make delicious food. You eat at the roof terrace, with an incredible view to the charming city and the palace. One deep regret : I only stayed one night, at least two would have been perfect to visit Bundi, a charming city. If you come to Bundi through Cittorgargh to visit its fort, do not sleep near Chittor, it is useless : go directly to Bundi (only 2 hours away), and sleep at Bundi Vilas.

Bundi Vilas is higlhy situated in Bundi, like a part of the Bundi palace.
And it seems that you enter in a little palace. This small haveli has few rooms, but we had the best one: on the terrasse. Beautifully decorated, clean and high quality bathroom, it was so good!
The welcoming is very nice, the staff is really caring about you.
You won't regret the price, because of the beauty of the place, the sympathy of people, the view from the roof top, the good sleep you'll have, the delightful shower you'll take, the magnificent dinner you'll have in front of the palace at candel's lights and the garanatuan breakfasts to start beautifully your day!
Family heritage nicely restored, don't hesitate go! I bet it's even better in couples.
And do not fear monkeys who can be close, the staff is always there to ensure the safety of you food ;)

Bundi Vilas is a wonderfully chic place to stay stiuated on the edge of Taragarh Palace. The rooms are stylish decorated with colourful Rajastani fabrics and complimentary tea and coffee provided. The family warmly welcomed me to their home and I was served delicious freshly prepared breakfasts and candle lit dinners on the roof top terrace. A Palace tour can be arranged to see the beautiful frescoes. I would highly recommend a stay at Bundi Vilas.

This small hotel is centrally located, right on the fort wall so sits a little above the town of Bundi. We stayed 2 nights and with a couple of exceptional experiences really enjoyed our stay. It is an easy walk to the bustling local market and to the palace and fort.
The 1st night we were allocated an internal room with light only from a light well that opened to the kitchen on the roof. The room was nicely decorated but it was a little like sleeping in a pretty crypt with kitchen noises echoing through in the morning and evening. The manager was apologetic but as we had not booked a budget room this should not have happened. The comfortable king bed was too big for the room so one side was against the wall. Access was via one side of bed or climbing out to the bottom. There was little hanging or storage space.
A quick look at a few other rooms showed them to be spacious, pretty and well lit.
The 2nd night the room was as different again. Located on the roof, it was large, well lit and quiet. A window seat ran for a length of the room and looked over the Bundi valley. As we were right on the fort wall we were treated in the evening to hundreds of monkeys making their way home after foraging during the day.
Toiletries in both rooms were generous and good quality and a hairdryer was available on request. There was free internet available.
Breakfast and dinner are on the roof. It was very cold in February and there was no heating made available. Breakfast is cereals, eggs and toast and the homemade jams were a treat. Dinner was a buffet and was freshly cooked. Unfortunately like most hotels we encountered in India, the food is aimed at a tourist palate that prefers bland food. There was not an alternative menu so we ate very little from the buffet. On being given the bill when leaving, we were surprised at the cost of the meal which we considered high. With hindsight we should have asked what the cost would be but it was dark and cold and we could not see a dining alternative. If the hotel does not advertise the cost then I suggest that you ask prior to eating.
The staff were friendly and keen to assist and with the reservations about the windowless room and not knowing the cost of the meal we are happy to recommend.

Room Tip: The room on the roof next to the fort wall is lovely and the evening monkey parade a reat treat.
