“Great location, decent rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

The best part of this hotel is its location. It is right opposite to the golden temple entrance gate and at 2 minutes walking distance of Jalianwala Bagh. The golden temple can be seen from the balcony of the room. The rooms are not great but clean and decent. The staffs are helpful. Food is not great. Better to avoid food in the hotel. There are lots of good restaurants in the location. The cabs are not allowed in the golden temple road. You have to get down some 200 mtrs away from the hotel. I called up the reception and they sent someone to take the luggage from my cab.

I had stayed with my wife for 2 nights in the top floor room. It was nice and clean room with Golden Temple view. The staff was courteous and gave us extra tea sachets asked for and food was served hot...Mr. Kunwar at front desk was helpful in arranging taxi to border ceremony...

Thank God we stayed only for 1 night in this hotel. The room allotted to us had water seepage in it and stinking like hell. We requested for room change. The room was also having water seepage but we had to stay there as there was no option. The room size was very small. There was no space in room for extra bed, they had to remove chairs to accommodate the extra bed. Bathroom was also very small and plumbing fixtures were not operational. Even Toilet flush was not working properly. The view out of window was horrible, in fact there was no view. Horrible place.
The only good thing about the hotel is the Location. Its located very near to Golden temple.

Room was just OK and I found it little expansive when I compared to room infrastructure. Food was good. Room service is good. The staff was very supportive. Main advantage is it is very near to golden temple complex. All shopping areas are also near by.

We stayed here for 2 nights during our visit to the Golden Temple during the Diwali weekend. The room which was allotted had no window and one dirty wardrobe. The room was very tiny and there was not much walking place after the bed, wardrobe and two single chairs. Still we did not complain, since the room and bath were neat and clean. The problem started once we decided to settle in, when the AC started making a racket. It was nearly 11 and we wanted to rest after the long travel. When we contacted the front desk, they sent in a guy who said he could not set it right, but we could change room. So, from our half asleep stage, we carried the stuff lying about and shifted but the room was even more tiny. Then when we again called the reception, he said he could upgrade to the only superior room which was unoccupied on payment of Rs. 1000 per day extra. We agreed, but this room was on the lower ground floor with a window which cannot be opened as it was on the roadside. The room had road noises coming in. But the room was bigger and so we decided it was ok. The first room had just one power point and with so many things to charge we were at a loss, but this room had more points, a mini fridge, a better wardrobe and an electric kettle. The first night was ok though we could settle in only late but the second night turned out to be a nightmare. We planned to wake up early to visit the temple early morning, but there were people in the next room who were loud, who knocked in our room twice, and a trouble some kid who kept knocking and trying to open the door. After complaint to the reception, the knocking stopped, but the loud talking continued till they left or retired to bed at 2 am. By then it was time for us to wake up :(
There is no wifi or internet. We were debating whether to eat breakfast here or step out for a quick bite. Since we had nothing much to do on day 2,we ordered the breakfast which turned out to be rather good and service was fairly quick.
The only positive about the hotel was its walking distance from the darbar sahib which enabled us to visit every day with ease. Vehicles cannot be taken close to the hotel due to the traffic restrictions all day near the temple which one has to consider.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher floors to cut the road noise and ask if the room has a window which can...

You had better be a V.I.P to guarantee your stay here,as your prior bookings can just go down the drain if a V.I.P walks up to the reception demanding for a place to stay more so if it's a high ranking government officer. That's what happened to my stay here despite booking it 6 months in advance with constant reminders every month and assurance by them too till the day we left with a reminder phone call as well on the day we left for Amritsar. All was promised till we got there. Mind you we were at the airport and there was no pickup as promised. After taking our own cab, we reached the hotel only to find out that both our rooms had been given away since we didn't come by 3pm. To add salt to the wound, the so called pick up cab driver from the hotel which we requested for said he stood there for the past 1 hour awaiting our arrival but no one came out from the plane. In spite of him knowing the details of the flight, which was delayed by 45mins, he obviously did not come to the airport or not he would have known that the particular flight had been delayed. Pushed further to show proof of our names on the placard, he couldn't as he obviously was not there after being told by the owner not to come and get us as our rooms had been give away to a so called V.I.P. We were traveling 2 adults, 2 young kids and a 75 year old senior. After demanding at the reception that our rooms be given to us due to our prior booking, the owner says he can't as they are V.I.P's. How Dissapointing to all of us after arriving from a long flight. After all the assurance given that the owner will find us another place to stay I.e. 2 hours later, we finally managed to get 2 rooms which was 800 meters away or so. How do you expect a 75 year old senior to walk that far when our whole intention of staying here was so that it was only 50 meters away from the entrance of the Golden Temple our sole reason for visiting Amritsar. What a bluff! You better be sure there are no V.I.P.'s staying durin your stay or you can kiss all your bookings goodbye!!! On a friendlier note, all the people, inside the quadrangle of the Golden Temple are very nice and sincere unlike those outside the quadrangle who are purely businessmen, cheating their fellow countrymen for their own profit. How sad....... But I guess that's how the business world is in Amritsar.

It is shocking for someone to write a review for us who have not made any reservations, not paid any advances for the bookings & never approached us.

This hotel is by the side of the Golden Temple and less than a block away from Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, giving it a truly vantage position. We stayed here in end-October and found the rooms rather cramped. The staff was polite and helpful though. Food is expensive at Rs 400 per head for a simple vegetarian meal. The hotel offers pick-up and drops to the airport and railway station at all hours, which was a big help. But the approach road is blocked and broken, making access with luggage an impossible task.

Room Tip: Do ask for a room that matches their promotionals
