“A Temple of Gold”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

A magnificent temple structure. The Golden Temple, home of the Sihks, is well worth a visit. If you go, be sure to partake in the traditional food served to anyone and everyone who visits.

“Not to be Missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Happy that I got the opportunity to visit the Golden Temple on my way to Dharamsala. Though there were construction work at the main entrance to the Temple, authorities had made good arrangements to receive the large number of devotees and visitors through alternative entry points. Its mandatory that all remove shoes and cover their heads when visiting this sacred temple. When I visited in the morning hours, It was a remarkable sight when the sun rays reflected off the pinnacle of the temple.Take time to walk around the temple and see scores of devotees in various rituals prior to visiting the main temple in the centre of a pond full of colourful fish. The long lines of devotees and visitors keep moving at a sedate pace and one does not have to wait long till he / she gets a chance to be at the main temple. The holy offerings served to all when they return from the main temple was clean and tasty. The holy sermons conducted in close proximity to the main temple is soothing to the ear. This is a serene place where one could feel the peace and tranquility. A place that must not be missed.

“Splendid visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This was my second visit with my guru and friends. We first went at midnight, then at 4 am for the morning ceremony. A truly holy place, wonderfully maintained. The silence there is wonderful. The prasad served under the rain by volunteers after the ceremony was delicious and most welcome.

“The Golden Temple is awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013 via mobile

Much is said about the beauty of this wonderful temple, and of course the magnitude of feeding so many thousands of people each day....both of which are absolutely staggering...the beauty and the feeding of so many..but I was struck by the immense generosity of spirit which makes this temple so special for me. Hundreds of people give out dishes, prepare vegetables, cook vats of food, serve food, and clean up after all who visit. The spirit of seva..service is absolutley humbling for a westerner like myself. The spirit of whichever God you chose to follow is truly alive and serving humanity in this wonderful place. I feel grateful to have had such a wonderful experience. The Golden Temple is now perhaps my most memorable sight in India.

“Incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Temple is in the center of the complex on water. They serve food to all day and night-the poor can eat and sleep at all the temples. It is so kind of them to provide for the poor. We were able to see putting the book to bed ceremony at 10 p.m.. They read the holy book continuously for 48 hours taking one hour shifts. many volunteer and the kitchen alone is a huge undertaking to feed that many people so smoothly.
