“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

Mr. Davinder was transferred to another department for the time of election and that's why there is no rours twice a day. But if you call him and arrange a tour (as we did), it is still possible! Number is on the website.
Mr. Davinder took us on a tour of Amritsar despite his busy schedule and showed us things we would never get to see on our own. Architecture, food, history. It was very much worth it. He speaks good english and answers all the questions one might have.

“Sadly...very unprofessional”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

We were looking forward to Amritsar Heritage Walk & we actually collected information from Punjab Tourism's kiosk when there was an exhibition in Mumbai.

A week before visiting I contacted Mr.Davinder, informing our travel dates and requesting to confirm the timings of walk as I wasn't sure being Holi there was any change in timing. I got a standard reply .....thanks ....pl visit my site for more information.

We visited the site & reached the Town Hall 5 minutes before the start time. There was a board on the road of Heritage walk but no-one around (the vendor right opp board & govt officials in Town hall) knew about the walk or any person associated with it.

Had no option but to contact Mr. Davinder, who was apologetic that he was put on VIP duty & he had requested his colleague to conduct the tour. He mentioned that he will contact his colleague & arrange for a call back in 10 minutes definitely. Well .....call never came.

Our bad !

“very worth while”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

I did this, walk on 23rd March with Davinder and it was a,very well spent two hours, a passionate man for his culture and a great source of advise and tips, as well as being a genuinely nice guy. The walk takes you through the back streets and you see parts of Amritsar you would never find on your own, watching guys pan for Gold in the drains is the jewellery district was also interesting. The cost is excellent and you come away feeling you have seen some of the real heritage of Amritsar and the Sikhs

“Amritsar Heritage Walk - A great initiative!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

Whenever I do travel to any state in India, I make it a point to google that country’s tourism department. Maharashtra, Kerala, Goa, Madhya Pradesh have advertisements which are telecast, so we are generally aware that these tourism departments exist. So I was really pleasantly surprised when I found that Punjab Tourism Development Corporation has a really well built fast website. And to add to it, it is so well organised that you may just stop cracking jokes on Santa & Banta

Amritsar has two guided walks organised by Punjab Tourism. One of them is the Amritsar Heritage Walk. And I quote, This two hour guided tour conducted twice daily showcases some of the richest architectural and traditional heritage from Amritsar’s layered past. it includes the numerous Katras, Akharas, bungas, havelius and hattis (these are expressions of all traditional houses and town planning). The walk promises to take you back in time as you witness traditional trades and crafts being practised in the same place and in the same manner, as have been done for centuries.

I was the only one taking the walk with the guide. You get a cool map and also a book mark to take back home. The guides really know the place well. It was indeed a wonderful experience. All of it in Rs 25 for Indians and Rs 75 for foreigners. Happens twice daily.
