“Highly Disappointing!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

Our experience to this place was very bad. The ceremony and facilities really are not worth the time and effort involved.
We went in the first week of April. The heat was unbearable. There is no shelter there to provide shade to the tourists. The amount of people in the 'general' category makes it really difficult to really see anything.
And importantly the ceremony itself is very dull, really nothing great to write about. Plus it it too jingoistic. Both sides are made to unnecessarily and repeatedly shout national slogans. This really leaves a bad taste.

“A must see!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

This is a huge attraction in Amritsar. We booked it on the street and paid Rs100 per person for 'shared' transport. In our case that ment shared autorikshaw with 8 other people!! It was not confortable but they were nice to talk to :) You can also get a shared cab.
The ceremony takes quite some time as all the people have to get seated by the officials, animated patriotic cheering and then there is some kind of dancing party for women, they go crazy! And after 2 hours the official ceremony begins which is around 30mins long, very interesting to see. Both sides cheer for their country, India has much more people.
If you have a passport as a tourist, you get in quicker and you go to a special isle which is near the VIP.
The whole thing is pretty long, from 2pm to 8pm, bring a hat and wear sunscreen. Don't bring a backpack as they have to check everything. This way it's much easier. Toilets are bad and don't forget that Indian women don't do queuing :) You can do it!

“Cant miss it. Please go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Indian are patriots and it shows there. Absolutely worth seeing. Just a note of caution. The bathroom facilities around are hopeless to say the least. This is india where hundreds arrive to see the ceremonies. But for washrooms, u will be at a loss. Oh such a bad place to get any kind of relief. The place is just worth visiting but in case u have to relieve your self, i wish you luck. what's around looks state owned is hopelessly dirty and for ladies we saw there was no way a foreigner could go esp if cleanliness you looked for.Let alone the line ups and myriads of people. Do your job before arriving is my advise. oh such an ignored place for facilities.

“too much hype”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Its terrible the crowds , one must go with a pass or else its survuval of the fittest. No doubt a very sunny experience as the india side being on the East the sun strikes straight on your face. This place is an entertainment of patriotism !!! should have been a peaceful event but it a show of slogan shouting and there is an entertainer who conducts it all.
A very disappointing feeling as one does not get to see anything much if you are not on the front stands and a feeling of stampede occurs to you.
The indian outfits and specially the head gear of the guards is a big fan type arrangement but very cute, makes a good picture.

“Must Visit For A Different Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Wagah Border is a place that definitely offers a different experience. The moment I entered this place, I felt so patriotic and there was an adrenaline rush. By just a visit, I could feel how much the Indian Army and BSF works hard so as to provide us a sound sleep.
The March Past by the officers was amazing and made my day. The entire place is overcrowded everyday and there is a separate sitting arrangement for ladies and gents. So, people can plan out accordingly.
