“Its good if you are out for a adventure trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

This is actually a adventure resort situated far off from munnar. The cleanliness and quality and of deluxe rooms is not good. But super deluxe i would say its very good. Food is mostly north indian. I had tasted veg food i felt not so convincing. But ultimatley u should eat because u cannot get anything around other than the options available in the hotel. I suggest to add some kerala special dishes and south indian dishes. Staff are really good and hospitality is really good.

Very nice place for adventure. People who are a game for trekking should stay here. The room are nice and good. The staff very very good- Rahul the manager is ably assisted by Mukesh, Sarath Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Raja, etc. Service slow - short staffed, one cook for twenty rooms. The Tree house is good for Couples and not family. People with knee problem, physical ailments, breathlessness, old age should avoid this place. You have to travel atleast 13-14 kilometers to munnar market to eat if you do not want to eat at the resort. The night safari arranged in a open jeep was nice(we need to be fully covered up else we will freeze)

The hotel should provide walking sticks for people to walk up and down the resort. Alternatively a ropeway should be arranged.

Room Tip: The villas are spacious and seculeded. Tree house is good for honeymoon couples

Having read the reviews of the place we were a bit apprehensive about the hotel but nothing had prepared us for what was forthcoming! First of all, a scary ride in a hotel jeep down a steep dusty track downhill took us to the hotel which itself is nice looking in terms of its lay out and property. The room was decent (Super Deluxe) and the linen clean. But there was no electric kettle for hot water in the room. When we ordered from the kitchen what we got was lukewarm water. Eventually we understood that the word 'hot water' or 'hot food' did not exist in the kitchen dictionary! Food and catering service were pathetic to say the least. Food would get over in no time, guests would be made to wait for a long long time. The dining area was very small, unable to cater to the inflow of guests on the property. The favourite topic amongst the guests in the dining room- how terrible the service was! The service staff had a language problem as well. The guests were trapped to dine at the hotel since the location didn't permit them to move out at night! To top it all, there were frequent power cuts and poor cable reception. One was forced to watch Malayali channels. My advice... STAY AWAY! There would be better properties available at the same rates!

The resort in itself is beautiful and the views are excellent. But the property needs some better maintenance. Staff is courteous but services are a little slow. The approach road to the resort is horrible and it is a terrifying experience to reach the resort from the main road especially at night. Very dangerous to drive on this stretch. Besides there are absolutely no lights on this stretch of road. The check out experience was not good. Power outages are frequent.

The resort is at quite a distance from Munnar town. The resort is almost 200 mts below the main road and the to reach the resort from the main road is an adventure in itself. The climb is scary and is its not advisable to drive down there.
The staff is courteous, though slow and the food is average. The rooms are clean but not well-maintained. The view around is nice but its not worth staying this far just for the view.

Reaching the resort itself is quite adventurous...suddenly on the road to the resort you will notice "Great Escapes Resorts - 0 km", look around but the resort is no where to be seen!! Then you notice that there is a winding slope which leads to the resort which is another 500 m or so downhill with loose gravels which makes it quite risky! God save you if you reach after dark.

The resort is good but not well maintained. Everything provided in the room for making tea/coffee, except kettle for boiling hot water. Rooms are quite stuffy and glum.

Okay place for a one night stay!

While the location is good & secluded, the approach road is very dangerous and once at the hotel, without transportation, it is just not possible to get out. If it is evening or night, just forget getting out of the place.

The room facilities are extremely bad
a) there is inconsistent supply of hot water in the bathroom,
b) no kettle to boil water/tea in the room (have to order for hot water),
c) no heating facility in the room (considering the temperature),
d) have to ask for mosquito repellants (something of a basic in a forested area),
e) the floor carpets in the room are extremely dirty (swept not vaccumed) - they are sort of stuck on the floor and have peeled off in some rooms and you can easily trip on them,
f) the bedsheets & pillow covers are clearly not changed after the previous guests move out (check for bugs and 'bindis' stuck on the pillows).

The adhoc notices stuck in the room are in bad taste - no extra tea bags, room heater chargable but don't hold us accountable if it won't work, any damage is payable.

While they attended to our calls promptly and fixed some of the issues, these issues shouldn't have existed in the first place.

This is a hotel clearly past its prime and most of the common facilities (camp fire, open air theater, health club and play area) were not maintained and in shambles. The common washroom at the reception had leaky faucets which are not fixed for days.

Added to that, our driver informed us that some years back, there was a fight between the hotel staff and some drivers and one person was killed (am not sure about this one though and our driver might be bad mouthing this place as he himself had a fight with the hotel staff one night).

Overall, the hotel is just not worth any money you want to pay.
