After a fascinating drive from Fort Kochin we were met on the doorstep of this beautiful bungalow by Daisy and Jose. Given a delightful fresh fruit cooling drink and given a most informative introduction to life on a rubber plantation by Jose, a member of a large family of plantation owners in Kerala. Daisy ascertained our dietary requirements after which we sat down with her, Jose being on a diet, to a home cooked and served lunch. After this we set off to meet a guide who accompanied us on foot to a bird sanctuary but, on entering it the skies opened to a torrential downpour which lasted so long that this visit was abandoned. Daisy again joined us for dinner, table being served by Jose. After a good, comfortable night's sleep and a hot shower and a hearty breakfast Jose gave us a conducted tour of the plantation-fascinating stuff hence the title of my review. On return to the house we joined Daisy in the Kitchen for a hands on cookery demonstration of Keralan cuisine. Wonderful! The next morning we set off early to watch elephants being bathed in a river about an hour's drive away.
All in all a first class home stay.
