“Not for the fainthearted!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Hotel is located not too far from the town, view is excellent as it faces a valley. Only problem is that there is a steep walk down to the rooms which can be hard to negotiate. We had lots of luggage and the porter had lots of fun carrying it.
Cable TV was not working and wireless signal was weak, but the place is absolutely breath taking. There is a trekking area right below the hotel.
We stayed here because we could not get a room at another near by place that I have reviewed in the past.
I would not mind staying there again.

Room Tip: If you cannot climb a steep hill, do not stay here.

Dear guest,

[♥]

Thank you very much for finding time to review Blackberry Hills.

You have rightly pointed out that there is a steep walk to cottages from Reception area. This is part of the design and most of the guests wouldn't mind walking few steps to save trees.

True, the cable network in this remote area is not efficient. A DTH Dish Antenna will be installed immediately after the busy season to solve the issue.

Please do visit again and I am sure that you will be happy to find changes as suggested.

We were struggling to find accommodation in peak season in Munnar and thankfully we came across this hotel on Trip Advisor. What a joy to arrive late and wake up to the most fantastic view of the tea plantation valley from the bed and balcony. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant, the guided walk through the valley and the massages in the spa. We got the sense that the this place is popular with honeymooning Indians, if you get my drift. What a great place clinging to the hill side with places to sit alone and listen to the birds or walk to see the sunset or sunrise.

Dear guest,

[♥]

A beautiful review from a Senior Contributor of Trip Adviser is so much encouraging and so much motivating to Team Blackberry. Thank you very much.

While observing honeymooners at Blackberry Hills Retreat & Spa, you have aptly used the word 'drifting'. This is the the word we always craved to have to convey the real situation of extensive Blackberry Estate. Thank you.

With prayers to have a chance to host you again,

Mrs Princy.

I stayed there for 3 days. I found this hotel a bit costly but hotel is very good.

I liked the forest theme. Also the views from the hotel are very good. Staff was very helping and polite.

I liked the food in the restaurant. Only negative point about restaurant is that sometimes the choices was very less.

Dear guest,

[♥]

Positive review from a highly traveled Senior Reviewer of Trip Adviser is of great value to us at Blackberry Hills. Thank you very much.

We never make noise about the theme of the resort though we value it and painstakingly preserve the wilderness of the estate. We are glad that you recognized the theme.

Thank you for your comments about the quality of the food. Your suggestion to have more choice will be seriously considered.

Please do come again.

Had a fantastic experience here during our vacation in mid-Sep 2012. The resort is tucked away amdist nature with birds chriping all the time, gives you mind-blowing views of valleys covered with team plantations. The villa suite we were in was very spacious with a separate living room. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was awesome and staff is helpful to cater to your needs. The only discomfort was the non-availability of hot water 24X7- it's available few hours in the day. But with all else this place gives you, it's a definite recommend for family vacations in Munnar.

Room Tip: Choose the topmost floor for best valley views, nearest building to reception as the climb is steep.

Dear guest,

Thank you. Your sweet review is highly motivating.

Hot water circulating system is kept off during 1100 to 1900 hours to save precious energy when practically no guest will be in the room. During this period, if any guest need hot water, it is a matter of a call to our Front Office and within 3 minutes, plenty of hot water will be available on the turn of the knob.

Considering the importance of saving energy, and the geographical position of the property which requires heavy power to keep circulating hot water (mostly for a single guest), the inconvenience may kindly be excused.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I had booked this hotel for my honey moon in the month of December 2012. That was a wonderful period to visit the hotel as it was not a monsoon season. Morning & Evenings are blissful. The hotel is located in the hill landscape and the view you get from the bed & balcony is awesome.. I never stayed in a hotel where you can get an heavenly view with the clouds & mist surrounding the hill. The view from the bed is breath taking as you can see the the tea plantations & forests.

For those who had a plan to roam around munnar for sight seeing this hotel would not be an advisable place as this is a place where you can enjoy and relax your mind and body. Also it is on little high budget so better plan accordingly. I had spent my 2 days in the hotel and went nowhere. This hotel itself has a trekking point and where you can explore lot of various plants & trees. They also made a bamboo hut & some benches where you can sit and enjoy the view and climate.

The restaurants & the spa are cannot be missed as they serve very good food with buffet in mornings & night. It is worth the money as everything tastes good. In spa i faced some problem in bathing room as the hot water stops frequently. But the massage was very good with very nice ambiance & very light music in bose speakers.. If you are going for spa, make sure you get hot water till you finish your bath.

I recommend this hotel for a stay for honeymoon couples & family where they can relax your body and forget everything. Have a look on some of the pics that i have uploaded on this review... Good Luck.

Room Tip: Look for 301 & 401 rooms as you would get an awesome view.

[♥]Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review posted and amazing photographs uploaded.

As you rightly suggested, newly married couples prefer to spend their honeymoon at Blackberry Hills perhaps because of the serenity of Blackberry Estate. The rare and endemic plants and trees preserved in the estate add to the attractions. Finest part of a holiday in Blackberry Hills, some guests say, is the time spent in the remote corners of the estate, watching the village far below and appreciating the 'magic of mountain Gods'.

We would love to host you again.

A wonderful place to relax with a fabulous view from all rooms. The restaurant served delicious Indian dishes and the walk down and back helped to digest the copious quantities of food consumed! The buildings are on the side of a very steep hill and walking is an effort due to both the grade and altitude. Computer and WiFi was free and the staff were all very helpful - especially with the luggage.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

Blackberry resort is a good place to stay if you want like the tranquility of nature, set amidst a hill, it has got splendid view of tea gardens from the room, the food is good, try the fish fry kerala style which is good. The welcome drink is marvellous too.

Room Tip: Try and take a room in the first or second floor for a better view
