This hotel is situated at the highest point in Munnar, so the view is really beautiful. As the location is high up the mountain, the road is narrow and windy, and cars normally don't pass through at night (after 6pm, not advisable).
Food at the restaurant is okay, not bad but don't expect excellent service as there is only one person manning it and it takes 30 minutes at least for the food to reach your table. We ordered room service most of the time as the hotel is pretty far from the town, room service is good, try to order tea instead of coffee in Kerala.
The rooms are very basic, looks old and needs refurbishment. It's acceptably clean. There's no AC but you won't need it.
The staff at reception are okay, the guy in one of the office rooms next to the in house sundry shop is very friendly.
Good place if you need somewhere quiet to unwind, and be close to nature. I enjoyed the view, especially that I spotted a few exotic birds and big roses there.
Since its close to nature, do expect insects to enter the room, but please don't kill them! If you are squeamish, I suggest you don't stay here. I just picked up the bugs and threw them out of the balcony.
Oh yeah, there is no wifi so you are indeed disconnected from the outside world.
Electricity also goes off a few times but it comes back on quickly so don't be alarmed. Happens all over in Kerala, not just in Deshadan.
Initially supposed to stay for two days in Munnar but we got bored and checked out the following day to Thekaddy.
