“Wonderful stay !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

We stayed for 02 Nights during August 2011. The staff was very courteous. Our family included my parents, my wife and my little son. The stay was wonderfully comfortable, food was very tasty and hygenic. The views from the resort were awesome. A must place to stay in Munnar....

We checked in on 31 st august. Stayed for two night.Rooms and furnishings were neat. View from room was amazing.
Bathrooms were good. Supply of hot water was sufficient. Hotel staff were helpful. Room service was prompt. A good place to stay and connect to nature. Vegetarian food was average. We faced only one problem there. It was raining and we have to stay in hotel for two days. There is no spa and no activity for kids.

Hello Sir,

We thank you for expressing your concern over the lack of activities during the rains as the guest prefers to spend their time indoors.

The monsoon period in Munnar is definitively a great time to experience because of the location and the view point.

We are working on a urgent basis to overcome the shortcomings at the earliest.
Looking forward to serving you soon.

Warm Regards

Hi,

We stayed in the resort from 13th-15th Aug and had booked two valley view rooms. The resort as they say is at the highest point of Munnar and indeed it is...We were completely overwhelmed to see the beauty of Munnar from our rooms.

The food was gr8 and staff courteous..We had a wonderful time in the hotel.

This hotel is 5 kms from Munnar and if you are interested in sightseeing, it might take u 20 mins to reach the main city, so if you are ok with that, then this is the place to stay..

FYI:_ The hotel is at quite a steep height and you would have to pull your car at 1st gear only for 5 mins.

Room Tip: Rooms 701-704 will offer you the best view of the valley.

It’s a beautiful hotel to stay. As all reviewers said, there is no comparison for the breath taking view from the valley view rooms.
Food was really testy. But the service was not up to the mark as there is lack of staff. Toilet was neat and clean (This is our main concern wherever we visit)
Some issues to be addressed.
1. Bathroom towel were not clean. I hope by this time they should have changed the towels.
2. Power backup. Make sure to ask for the power backup while you check-in, as they used to provide power backup to the selected rooms. We did not face power failure during the night, but we faced power failure during day time. Even intercom would not work. During the day time you don’t require power, except if you are watching TV.
3. Hotel should provide more recreation for kids. We were enjoying the nature. But there was nothing to enjoy for an 8yr old kid.

Tips:
.Make sure to try tea (with milk) from the restaurant.
.Try to reach there before 4pm, if you are self-driving, as there is a chance of fog on the way to the resort.
.Do a shopping for your basic stuff (fruits etc) before you reach the resort. As it is the highest point, it’s not easy to drive for shopping during the night.

We only stayed for 2 nights when we did our Kerala tour. I was not too sure as it was not our usual 5 star hotel. But what a lovely surprise. It was like a chalet type rooms. We had 2 rooms and between 2 rooms we had a lounge/dinning table and big TV. One side we had entrance door and other end had patio doors opening on to the balcony. The balcony was facing the valley and mountains. The view was breath taking. We were so high that the clouds were passing through our balcony whilse we were sitting out. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very clean with shower and running hot water. Food was limited as only one restaurant at the hotel. They did try to make what you request but not brilliant. Its ok if you want what they offer !! But over all it was one of the best hotel in Munnar I think. Good with family and big group.

Room Tip: Amazing location.

Hello Sir,

Thank you for giving us a brief experience on your stay in Deluxe Cottage ( 2 B/Room ).

Deshadan's USP is its view and we request more travelers to check -in and enjoy the experience.

With regards to the limited food on the menu; we sell more buffet during the high occupancy period but we are trying to keep more options on the ala- carte menu to cater different tastes of the guest.

We once again thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with us.

Warm Regards

Deshadan is a beautiful place, free from any kind of pollution and noise. lovely place for couples because of the view, we booked a vally view balcony room. which had a suparb breathtaking view of full munnar. and it feels you are seating in heaven with all the clouds coming at your eye level. room and staff is also very nice. but food can b better. specially we had problem with food as they dont have that spicy, mumbaiya taste. everything else was beautiful. best place for honeymoon couples who want to enjoy silence with beauty.

We stayed at the Deshadan Mountain resort during our annual trip to Kerala, from where I hail. The hotel as advertised in their brochures seems to be the highest located one in Kerala and is reached by a steep road after passing the Pothamedu view point which is one of the items on a Munnar tourists' itinerary . (Learned from my local cabbie that the hotel is called the first gear hotel by the cabbies as the approach road is steep and can be approached on first gear only).
The height and secluded location had some inherent advantages and disadvantages. The advantage was the scenic beauty as seen from the height and the calmness away from the bustle of the town. The disadvantage was that due to the location you cannot
plan another trip in the evening or visit or buy anything from the town late, if you do not have a full time vehicle.
We had booked a Mountain view room but got a complimentary upgrade to a Valley View room. The valley view room offers a fantastic view of the Pothamedu valley from the balcony. (If you plan to stay mostly in the hotel, honey moon travellers for instance, pick the valley view room). The room was provided with a recliner which could be converted into child's bed.
The TV, bathroom amenities are OK, but could be upgraded to meet the contemporary standards.
The resort also had a recreation room on the top floor of the valley view rooms with indoor games like chess, carroms, table tennis etc. though this is not adequate to keep the kids engaged.
The breakfast was complimentary and comprised of a mix of south indian, northindian and continental food. We never had lunch in the hotel, but this was the only time ala carte meals were available. The dinner was buffet only and comprised of a variety of vegetarian and nonvegetarian food, southindian, northindian and chinese. The food was OK but a la carte could be a welcome option.
The overall ambience was good and in line with expectations.

Dear Sir,

As rightly said VIEW is fantastic for which we are always proud of it but as you have mentioned your thoughts on the requirement of childrens play area and on the food part which is our major areas of concern and we are trying hard to overcome it.

Such comments help us in keeping our team on the toes.
