“Worth it and feel it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013 via mobile

We visited gruenberg tea plantation haus this 1st of december. It was amazing. Mr.Anand the manager was really helpful enough and very kind which made our stay even more comfortable. The gruenberg provides pick up and drop as well as sightseeing arrangements for a fee. The rooftop restaurant was mind blowing. The view from the top is really amazing. U can feel the pleasure once u are there! The rooms are clean and the staffs are kind. I have to mention about the food. The food provided was simply superb. Its a place which gives u a romantic feel and it is the ideal place for couples especially honeymooners. We look forward our next stay at Gruenberg once more..

A nice German name for this very nice property! Though this inn is bit far from the main town you don't mind that much once you get in to this place surrounded 360 degree with tea plantation and a unique room with 90 degree view of the tea estate..very spacious and well equipped rooms, limited but very tasty food, warm staffs all make a very good value for money..A special thanks to Anand and team for special care they take for the guests here..Keep up the good work.

The hotel has an amazing view of tea plantation. Great view from the flowered roof top restaurant and room. Spotless rooms with all modern amenities. The food was delicious and staffs were helpful.

There is free WiFi in all area of the hotel and Bluetooth enabled speakers in the room to listen your favorite tracks from the mobile.

In all, a highly recommended place to stay and get pampered.

In a hill station that has seen a recent splurge of resorts and hotels, Gruenberg really stands out as a unique little hotel that promises an experience like none other. While there are several large resorts like Club Mahindra and Sterling, and several "cliff-view" hotels, there is nothing like Gruenberg.

Located in the middle of a tea plantation, this little gem has just 5 rooms, which makes the overall experience very cozy and personal. The hotel itself is a very small building that has an interesting mix of traditional and modern design. Coupled by the fact that it is surrounded on four sides by the plantations and trees, it really has a heavenly getaway feel. We reached the hotel at night well after it turned dark, so we really had no idea where we were as the area is quite dark. But when we woke up next morning, we were stunned by the incredible views on either side of our room (yes, there are windows on two sides). The hotel has a terrace restaurant where we were served a sumptuous breakfast the next morning. The staff is incredibly friendly and the hotel manager Mr. Anand was extremely helpful, all the way from giving driving directions to our cab driver to accommodating a last minute change in our plans that forced us to check out early.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway and want to surround yourself by greenery in the form of forests and tea plantations, this is the place to go to! Highly recommended!

So we visited this place last month , it was really neat and clean . The homestay is right in the middle of a tea plantation (but then the whole of munnar is one big tea estate anyway!) . The view is excellent , and they have a lovely rooftop resteraunt with a small library as well (+10 points)

The people responsible for the food and staff were extremely nice ( A Mr Anand could attend a hospitality course though , not that he was rude , but an occasional smile or a hello would have been nice)

I also recommend not to use the homestay taxi as it is overprice at Rs 1700 a day ( We were even charged Rs 400 extra for bus stand pickup , without prior notice ) . You can get a day taxi from the local bus stand at Rs 1200 a day .

The homestay is about 10 km away from the main town ,about half an hour , which is quite annoying as the taxi will drop you back to the hotel by 7pm max.

Room Tip: do not choose the ground floor room.

This is a shocking review rating for us. This guest was asking everthing at free like cab charges, sight seeing, pick and drop, dinner after reaching Gruenberg, how is that possible? We dont have any taxi for the hotel, but will help to arrange taxi upon the guest request. There will be price chart for taxi fares in Munnar and drivers charging accordingly.
You are the only guest who wrote a negative review about our Manager Mr Anand, I request to check the other reviews for the truth.
Our motto is to provide a 5 star stay at 2 star price and im sure we are following it.

I chanced upon Gruenberg while sifting through the various hotels in Munnar in preparation of our holiday there. What caught my eye was the cleanliness that came through in the photos that were posted and the greenery around. On reading the reviews posted, we decided to give it a go and I must say, we were not disappointed at all.

Gruenberg is a fantastic place to stay if you're looking to unwind and relax from a hectic city life. It is located on the border of a tea estate and has some good amenities. Right from the pick up at Kochi, which the hotel provides at a fee, through till the check out and drop back, it has been a tremendous experience. The rooms are extremely clean, modern and have a minimalistic appeal to them. Our room's baclony on the 1st floor opened up to a brook and it was a pleasure to hear the soft murmur. The food there is amazing and the staff are extremely courteous. The entire place is connected via WiFi and they also provide Bluetooth speakers which can play music from your phone. The staff are helpful and very nice. Mr. Anand, the manager, is the pillar of strength there and is quick to assist with any queries.

The only downside is the distance from Munnar town (8 kms), but then that's known upfront and its really for the traveler to decide if they are willing to stay that far. But for the price that they rent their place, its definitely value for money. If you'd ask, I would stay there again in my next trip to Munnar.

Excellent location, amazing service, nice roof top restaurant with delicious food. What else you can ask for. We stayed on 5th and 6th of November 2013. Rooms have glass panes on both sides that gives you an excellent view of tea plantations and sun rise. There is a spacious balcony attached to the room where you can enjoy having a cup of tea in natural beauty. Rooms are clean and maintained very well. A special mention for the service, before we reached our room with extra bed was all set up. Whenever we asked for anything, it was quick and staff was very cooperative. This place is highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room No. 108. This has excellent tea garden views and balcony opening towards a water f...
