“Excellent Property !! Made the Trip Worth it !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

I visited this property in Munnar (Kerala) this October 2013 (18-19th Oct 2013). My first tour to kerala it was. I am happy telling you all that this property made it worthwhile staying there in God's Own Country. As its a hill station of south the climate is wonderfull and the property that I stayed in (Devonshire) was simply amazing. The staff is very polite and greats you with a smile always. The rooms are very tidy and fresh, toilets are very Hygienic, WiFi works amazingly great and is FREE (Shame abt the Mobile Phone Network though). We stayed at the sun rise view room which was over looking to the valley. At the evening by 6pm the clouds came down and started entering the room. the property is covered with thick fog post 8pm and is wonderful looking at it that ways. We went to the hotel's own restaurant on the 4th Floor. They served buffet dinner for a very economical charge i.e. INR400/- The food was delicious and the BEST thing was the Restaurant manger and the Head Chef came to great us (in fact every body having dinner) which was a very caring and a humble gesture I must say. This made us all very welcoming and gave us that posh feeling. A Special BIG Thank You to Chef - Anil More, I.N.B Manish Gurung, R.M-Praveen and every one else in Devonshire Green Team. I will Strongly recommend this Property to you all.

One more Point, The Hotel has Not Got the Liquor Licence so make sure you take your own bottle of Wine or Scotch ;-). Enjoy !!

Room Tip: Go for the Valley View room priced @ 8000 as this is perfect with the balcony attached to it.

My family and I stayed 2 nights in this hotel before moving on to the no.1 in Munnar - the Wind for 2 more. On hindsight, and after the fantastic experience at the Devonshire, perhaps I should have spent all 4 there. To start with - we were greeted very warmly on arrival and offered some chilled lemonade while the bags were seen to and check-in formalities completed. Once done, we were cordially escorted to our room. Noted that the lobby, the corridors and common areas are large, well lit and spotless. The common rest rooms are comparable to some of the finest hotels we have stayed at - very clean, airy and spacious. The room itself was very well appointed. A flat-screen Sony Bravia for our entertainment, comfy bed and chairs, and a breathtaking view - a Misty gree valley, rolling fluffy clouds and awesome sunrise and sunsets. High quality of toiletries including some excellent scented soaps that do wonders to lift your mood. Very good room service and staff courtesy. Lavish breakfast buffet spreads with continental and desi fare as well as a live egg cooking station where the chef courteously dishes out fluffy omelettes and scrambled eggs to order. The check-out process was also very professionally managed. The only downside to this place for me was the very weak wifi signal. You'd have to perch at the edge of the balcony to get some range and even this was a hit and miss. The signal was non-existent in the room itself. For somebody who needs to their daily dose of the internet, this is a letdown. The hotel operator was on ocassion, a bit curt. To the point in answering a query, but too crisp to leave a positive impression. Remember, guests can 'see' your smile over the phone. So, please put in an effort to be courteous while also being efficient.

In my view, this hotel bags the blue ribbon in Munnar.

A new property which opened in Nov'12. Built on a rock and surrounded by tea plantations the hotel is nestled amidst's greenary. Great views of the hills and beautiful falls situated back side of this hotel makes it scenic. The hotel is about 5 Kms away from the town. We did experience problems with cell phone coverage except for BSNL. The rooms were spacious, clean, neat and beautifully done.

The G.M. Mr.Deepak Viswanathan and the executive chef, Mr.Anil More are fitness and yoga enthusiats. They take the guests for a early morning walk through the tea plantations (5 Kms overall) which eventually will lead to a spectacular water fall. The entire route is green and very beautiful. The locals will offer you freshly brewed tasty Elaichi Tea before coming back to the hotel which is uphill that tests your fitness, endurance and stamina.
I would recommend all guests to experience this during their stay. After the walk, if you are still energetic, then you can join Mr.More for the Yoga session or break for your breakfast which is a mix of South Indian dishes and a spread of the usual breakfast items. The restaurant offers a panaromic view of the hills and with the mist in the early morning, the sight is amazing. The staff is extremely helpful, polite and courteous.

Our stay and experience was very good. I would recommend this property and definitely worth visiting once again.

The concerns were the hotel doesn't have a bar as yet, Wi-Fi in the room was not at all reliable and non-acceptance of credit cards.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side offer a beautiful view of the hills and the waterfall.

As Munnar was the first destination of our honeymoon trip, we changed our originally selected hotel with Devonshire greens, as it had pretty good reviews, and we were not disappointed.

Although it is a bit far from munnar, The view from rooms is superb.
The view from restaurant is also quite commendable, Having breakfast in midst of clouds and light drizzle with such an amazing view was quite literally like dream come true

Also the staff is very courteous, In restaurant when we told that we particularly liked a dish that was served for dinner the day before, we were asked if we wanted to have it in menu again, which came as a pleasant surprise for us.

The only thing that was of little concern is size of the rooms. However, it was made up for by all other facilities provided.

All in all, a very good hotel, definitely worth visiting again

My wife and me stayed in this hotel last week for 2 nights. The hotels location is great. Its a few kilometres away from town (which is good ... as the town centre is quite scruffy and grim) The views from the bedroom are just superb. The rooms were comfortable and had all the mod cons that one can expect. What set this hotel apart from many others in our trip to Kerala was the level of care that the Manager, the executive chef and the staff took. The Manager is passionate about fitness and personally conducts a 2 km walk at 6.15am each morning. The walk involved passing through lovely tea estates and down to a spectacular waterfall where the locals offer freshly brewed tea. The walk back to the hotel was uphill and brutal (if you are as unfit as we were) - but we got there in the end, This was followed by an hour long Yoga session with the Chef and then a hearty breakfast that consisted of freshly prepared local South Indian dishes as well as a large spread of the usual breakfast items.

The chef was kind enough to arrange for a 'Kerala cuisine cooking session' for two families that had expressed interest in learning about the food.

The overall experience with this hotel was very positive. My only three slightly negative comments are that the
- hotel does not accept credit cards (any extras need to be paid by cash on checkout)
- they don't have a licence to serve alcohol in public areas. You can however purchase beers etc. locally and consume them in the privacy of your own room.
- Although Wi-fi is available for free in the bedroom, the service is unreliable.

I would certainly recommend this hotel for any traveller.

Set up in the hills surrounded by tea plantations the hotel is beautiful. Great views from the hotel dining room and balcony. Restaurant offered a good selection with staff more than happy to explain each dish. There is a great walk nearby to the waterfall that is worth doing.

Really enjoyed the amazing staff at this hotel. They have daily morning walks where you get to see the sun rise with stunning views, a waterfall and have tea and for free too! What I loved is the way both Mr Deepak - General Manager with his head chef - Anil accompany you on these walks. It is also a great way to meet other people staying at the hotel. I also had the pleasure of a complimentary yoga and cookery class!!
Besides that, the food was delicious, the rooms nice and spacious and the location excellent. Thanks Mr Deepak.

Room Tip: The sunrise rooms are the best as they have a balcony and amazing views!
