We visited Kerala in August and chose to stay at Devonshire Greens while we were at Munnar (from Aug23 through Aug 25). Our hotel selection was based on a good deal of research on the web (Tripadvisor etc.) and also a lot of inputs from family and friends local to Kerala. And I must say, the choice was spot on.

The property is located close to the Attukal Waterfalls and offers very scenic views of the mountains as well as the valley. It is conveniently away from the main town and provides that calm and serene ambience. The rooms, services, amenities & hospitality were fantastic and the hotel staff really exceeded our expectations.

The rooms were spacious enough for our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) and had a fabulous view.

Another feature that sets this hotel apart from others in the area is the Morning Nature Walk. We did this on both mornings we were there and Mr. Anil More, Mr. Pravin and Mr. Anthony did a great job of organizing this. The walk to Attukal Waterfalls and a nearby temple took us through winding roads, flanked by beautiful tea plantations on both sides and fabulous views throughout. On our way back, we stopped at a tea / coffee stall located right next to the waterfalls. It was an amazing experience to have that cup of coffee sitting right next to the waterfalls. And our hosts did a great job helping out with the photography, making sure all guests had plenty of pictures throughout the walk.

This review would not be complete without us mentioning about Mr. Anil More. Besides being the Master Chef and helping organize the morning walks, he also took the time to teach us Yoga, after the walk.
Lastly, food was awesome, with a variety of cuisine offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We hope to visit Kerala again and there will be no second thoughts on where we stay in Munnar.

- Santosh & Rupa

I booked this hotel because of the good reviews but didn't really see how it rated so highly. The views were amazing but that was about all. The place felt a bit run down and it didn't feel very welcoming. This was the largest hotel that we had stayed at since reaching India so maybe that is why it felt impersonal. The first night the kids were hungry so I called the restaurant at 6.30 pm to check that they were open and serving and they said yes so we went to the restaurant sat down was given menus, ordered drinks and when they arrived they told us the restaurant was only serving snacks until 7.30. Was pretty annoyed given I had called especially to check and we then had to pay for drinks. I'm sure it was them just wanting to please by not saying it was closed but it really annoyed me. They then called the room at 9 pm to see if we would be eating in the restaurant

the hotel was very nice, situated around 10 mins drive from the town and very close to one of Munnar's beautiful water fall. we stayed for 3 nights.

Restaurant is pretty good. we had a buffet dinner several time - most of it India food, but also some western style dishes. pretty cheap ~ 400 Rs. per dinner.

the room were fine - a little maintenance is required, but overall the room was clean, and bed & showers were very good. we traveled with a small baby, therefore, we couldn't comprise on the neatness of the room - and we didn't have to

Overall - excellent staff, excellent view, very nice rooms, very good choice if you want to stay comfortably after a long drive.

Beautiful place, View, Food, Location, Best Hospitality & THE BEST Staff….If you are visiting Munnar, don’t think about any other hotel….Devonshire Greens - The Best!!!!!

We were extremely happy that we choose Devonshire Greens & as ensured by Deepak (GM Devonshire) that he will make our vacation memorable, he & his team delivered the same.

Deepak you exceeded our expectations. Hats off - the way you & your team is managing the Guest's. Everything was at its best in this resort. Heavenly king size bed, fully fitted modern bathroom, spacious balcony with an amazing valley view, Enjoyable sound of attukadu falls.

Our stay at Devonshire Greens turned out to be the most memorable vacation for us.

Our family was craving for a much-awaited break for the routine grind of our normal lives. Hence, we were on our way to Munnar and yes, to Devonshire Greens as well. Devonshire Greens reminded me of the romantic movie ‘Walk in the Clouds’. Beyond exaggeration, the view from our hotel room was indeed mesmerizing with a magnificent view of the waterfalls, and the silence which seeps through our souls.

The drive up to Devonshire Greens itself is heartening with a generous view of the beauty of the misty mountains, waterfalls and the serene landscape and tea cultivation. The resort is located in a mountainous area, and the view from this point is breath taking.

It was raining throughout, and we were offered a pleasant welcome by the hotel staff. The security at the entrance offered to park our vehicle, and the house keeping staff brought in the luggage to our room after we checked in.

The room we were allotted was clean with all modern amenities like LED TV, free wi-fi access, locker facilities, mini-bar and so on. Even more worth mentioning is the breath taking view from our balcony. We were able to hear nothing but the sound of the wind, and the gurgle of the river and waterfall nearby. Even our 2 year old didn’t want to leave the balcony as she was also captivated by the beauty.

And to mention about the mobile network connectivity, it’s poor and so making phone calls was tough once we are inside the hotel premises.

The hotel offers complimentary breakfast. The food is good, not exceptional though. The spread is not that great, again just a normal one. The menu does not have many local dishes – the selection is very limited. The restaurant staff is very friendly – our daughter had a good time at the restaurant, she even managed scrambled eggs made to order.

One thing we noticed was the lack of training in the hotel staff. If the management took a little more care to train their staff, and bring in more professionalism, it would have added to the value of this hotel. On the other hand it was good to see locals as staff.

The hotel staff due to their local knowledge gave us some very useful tips like, updates on the road conditions after the recent heavy downpour in the area - the bridge which was in a very bad state, the local tea and spice shops, and elephant sightings at Mattupetty.

I personally feel this is a good option for families who are thinking of taking a short break from the normal life, and need some space and time to unwind oneself.

Room Tip: Some rooms have better view of the valley than others

The location of the hotel on the edge of the mountains just over the valleys is great - downwards from the Reception area. The on and off flow of the mists - visible from the room was indeed very nice - reminded of Genting ! The staff is very courteous and enthusiastic. The best part was the food. Being vegetarians - we were apprehensive. But thier breakfast & dinner spreads were rich enough to satisfy even the toughest connoisseurs, I would believe.
We had an issue of not getting running hot water in the taps and it took one day to sort the issue - by change of room. But apart from this minor hiccup - no hesitations in recommending this place for a comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Take rooms of valley view - the flow of mists across the valley makes the day !
