“HOMELY & SECURED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We stayed there for 3 days. The place is very good and clean. I made the reservation and spoke to Mr. Thangappan before arriving. He guided me also throughout the way to reach Munnar and also explained the routes for the places to visit. We enjoyed our stay and appreciate the hospitality. The cottage is in a calm, scenic and near the Main Road where we got some homely food for the break fast & Dinner.

This was the 4th home stay we visited in Kerala and the only one we did not enjoy. The review of August 28, 2012 from Utrecht perfectly describes our experience at this place. The overall feeling was disquieting, and we were all relieved when our 2 nights were finished and we could depart.

This home stay was ok for two nights. The facilities were only ok. The rooms were not so clean, and they weren't cleaned during our stay. We had some ants and in general I didn't feel comfortable. The hosts are very nice and friendly people, but somehow too intruding and imposing. I don't think I would come back.

Semi-independent bungalow, where the owner stays in the ground/basement, and the floor above is totally yours if you rent it, having 2 double bedrooms with attached bath, 1 single bedroom, a hall, a balcony and another sitout.
NOTE: Homestay does not normally include Breakfast, tea, etc. Some home owners provide it upon request, but nothing comes for free

'+'s
Home is neat for a family to stay
Big enough to accomodate 10 members easily.
Owners don't disturb you.
Hot water always available for bath
Parking available if you're taking your own vehicle.
Not too far from Munnar town (8km). It's on the outskirts near tourist spots like Attukad waterfalls, Pothamedu View Point.
As the name, the misty view was good, to enjoy the beautiful weather of Munnar.
Restaurant is available right opposite.
Don't need an AC since you're in 'Munnar', the weather doesn't require one.
Hospitality of owners was good. My family checked-in at around 12 midnight, they were patiently waiting and helped.
Also provided Milk (ofcourse for money) for child when asked for.

'-'s
No kitchen, just in case you want to feel at home

Facilities - OK. Shower did not work so we took a bucket bath. Ants in the room spoilt some food. No AC.

Food - OK. The owner charges money for tea, coffee, and all meals. He also charges money for bottled water and adds his own commission to the price. He did not tell this in advance to us. Also, he asked us for an advance of money so he could go buy food to prepare for dinner!! I thought it was very weird that he did not pay for this on his own and buy his own vegetables, chicken etc to cook for us and instead asked me for an advance.

Hospitality- Terrible. The owner uses "God" and then let us know how much money he would get if he cut a flower to sell in the market from his garden or how much a kilo of lentils cost.He is clearly a very miserly, money minded guy with low morals. Additionally, he uses bowls and glasses from his former employer company (the logo is printed) which I found to be very cheap charachter. The wash basin fell down and broke when our child tried to use it - we are glad that it did not fall on his feet. It was improperly installed, there is no way a small baby can bring down that huge thing and yet the owner expected us to pay for it - which we did.
Another adult guest said that he alsmost had the same experience in his bathroom.
Lastly the smaller room that faces the backyard does not have a ceiling fan.

Other- Our driver mentioned that he was not even offered a cup of tea or water. In fact , he was denied water for a shower!!

Location - Munnar is still a good half hour away - this homestay is NOT in munnar

I would not recommend this homestay at all .
