The accomodation is very basic. The location is not ideal and we had to get the host to arrange a driver to take us around. We did not get value for money from the driver as he charged a lot and was picky on where he took us. The host and family are nice but their English was almost non-existent. There was damp on the ceiling and the place could be cleaner. The food was average.

First thing which strikes you when you are taken to your rooms is cleanliness. We took two rooms for three nights. Rooms are decently spacious as well. However in my view that is all about this place. There is no mesmerizing view from room. You have to walk 15-20 min to have some good valley view.

This homestay is almost 12-13 kms away from Munnar. It can take 30-45 minutes to reach Munnar depending on traffic. You need to have your own vehicle if you stay there.

Biggest issue I had with this place is food. Three of us were veg while two do eat non-veg. However none of us likes food either in terms of quality or quantity. They only serve minimal number of items and quantity is really less. Dal which is served was always at bottom of serving bowl. Chicken and surprisingly fish was rubbery and was surely stale. They charged 100 bucks for veg and 150 bucks for non-veg. Though cost is low, I still found is much more than food was worth. Take my advice and have food in Munnar before returning to homestay.

If you are going to Thekkady, there is short route from here without going to Munnar. However Munnar to Thekkady route has some terrific view points. You will miss them if you take this route. Some vehicle movement is there in night on this route and probably disturbing for those who sleep lightly.

Host is helpful and arranged a taxi when we asked for it. Also provided us with hot water when we are asked. He is good in hindi and tamil. Not that conversant with english.

This is our third visit to Munnar and the first time we planned to stay at a home stay . After all the research and apprehensions we zeroed into Mushroom valley (they have a site on their own ) as the Proprietor Jonny was very clear on the details asked for. (Although the name deceives as Jonny Uncle(after our stay there) joking said they had mushroom farm around) .

Place is very little off the main road from Anachal (Kunni tani) on the way to Thekkady this is the shortest route to Thekkady and Jonny uncle helped us with the perfect direction . We could not miss the sign board of Mushroom valley.

From the time we checked in ,the Clam surroundings , great home food , walk in the fields , warmth of being in a home made this a wonderful holiday . Although we sat with the family for the meals there is a separate dinning hall provided at the house . One pleasant nature of the stay was good hot water which we missed in our previous stay in hotels as they provide on a hourly basis

Jonny uncles knowledge of the local terrain , helped us to explore more of Munnar this time also guided us to the Kadakali fest which depetics the culture of Kerala in 2nd mile .

This is one of the greatest holiday we have had . The only hitch is that Uncle only allows families which makes a options with friends a no . The distance off the road is no issue as this place has good roads till the home stay .

We have decided after our stay here , we will go again and again to the same place on our yearly visit .

Thanks Jonny Uncle and Bini for providing a great holiday.
