We stayed here in Aug 2013 and booked this property because we wanted to stay away from the city. The three days spent here were amazing. The staff is very well trained, polite and super efficient. The cottages are very beautiful and have all the facilities.
We loved the food here, it was fresh, delicious and home cooked. The cardamom plantation visit was the best part of the stay. The plantation is spread over the hill side and it was great fun wondering around the thickly planted estate. The manager Mr. Shyam was very helpful and made sure our stay was most comfortable. I recommended this property to a friend who visited one week after us and had the same experience. I would strongly recommend this place for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Try and get the D or C row rooms, they have better view.

A charming place, right in nature, where you will feel away from the world. Dr Rajesh, the owner and his family, Mr Shyam, the manager and the staff, everybody is there to make your stay enjoyable. The cottages are spacious and quiet... You will have a wonderful sleep after walking in the hills..Food is excellent and the choice of wines surprising in this place! Perfect for rest and stay with family to discover the full aera!

Room Tip: You can choose any cottage... They are all same, and view mostly same from all...

Ambady is a very well maintained property. There are only 8 cottages, so very calm and quiet place. The view from the cottage is towards mountains.
We stayed in Ambady as part of our honeymoon. We had opted for honeymoon package, flower arrangement, fruit basket, cake, etc. welcomed us. The cottage interior is in two levels with high ceiling which is simply amazing. Friendly staff, amazing food, privacy all made our stay a memorable one.

Pros:
* Very clean, well maintained
* Cottages are extremly spacious
* Friendly Staff
* Delicious food

Cons:
* A bit away from Munnar town.(Its in Pallivasal, which is 10KM before Munnar town when coming from Kochi)
* There is no tea estate view from cottages.

If you are looking for a well maintained calm place and is fine if there is no tea valley around, then this is a place for you. I would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour organised by Kerala Travel Centre and were amazed at the quality of accommodation and views from our cottage. From pictures in the brochure this was the least attractive looking base in our tour but when we were shown our cottage my jaw nearly touched the floor! It was huge, on two levels with a very high ceiling, comfortable bed, sitting area and a small green area in the front, beyond which were views of the mountains. Birds were everywhere and we explored the Cardemon (excuse spelling!) plantation behind the cottages, having to walk through a small holding tended by a friendly family. The reception area was beautiful and the restaurant was decorated tastefully. Food was tasty; on the first night was a buffet where dishes were described fully to us and on the second night we chose from the menu. Staff were friendly and always helpful with books to borrow to identify all the birds. Because of the altitude the climate was warm rather than hot which was a welcome relief from the humidity on the coast. Would thoroughly recommend.
Would thoroughly

I loved this place. Although a long journey the result was worth it. As we climbed the hills going higher and higher it felt as though we could reach out and touch heaven, on a few occasions with the lorries and buses coming down the hills I thought that might be sooner than I was expecting. But then around another corner and there was the entrance and long track leading up to the little reception cottage and before Yunoos our brilliant driver could put the handbrake on the Manager and several of the staff came running out to greet us we felt very special and after doing the paperwork we finished off our welcome drink and chose what to eat for dinner. We were then escorted to our villa, with the boys buckling under the weight of the cases we walked up the a little grass track.The door was opened and to our delight a lovely room appeared in front of us the villa was on 2 levels on the top level a table and chairs area and then down a couple of steps to a very large bedroom with the bathroom on the left side through a door. We opened the French doors, put out the little loungers, poured the g&t,s and sat very quietly in the sunshine now realising why they call it Gods own country the views were stunning the air clean the birds sang. We had arrived. Although the villa was lovely I had two little gripes there was no fridge in the room and there seemed to be a little problem with the shower it had a mind of its own with regard to the temperature someone did try and sort it, but although better not perfect. That evening we went down to the little restaurant for dinner there were only 6 other guests the food came and went and was very good, service was perfect so home we go for our nights sleep.In the morning up and off to breakfast the full Keralan what away to start the day. We spent that day walking around the estate and a trip to the tea factory was excellent. Again the lunch and dinner were very good. The next day we were off and were really sad to leave this piece of Heaven. The staff loaded our cases into the mini bus there was a lot of shaking hands and goodbyes those great big smiles that had greeted us now turned to expressions of genuine sadness. How very special we felt at that moment. My most sincere thanks to you all at the Ambady estate. Please build the swimming pool soon so I can visit you again. As you drive out there is a sign that says you complete us. I had a tear in my eye and we were gone. Thankyou.

We went to Munnar as part of our honeymoon and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, it's certainly a place to make the most of surrounding tours and activities. The cottages were very large and comfortable although not the most luxurious. I agree with Richard54's review that while it was a good place to be based, the isolation of the location made it more of a retreat than the facilities available per se. We actually had one of the worst meals of the holiday at the estate including an overly dry fish polichatu and ungenerous portions. Guests who were unaware that an advanced order was required for dinner simply had to go without as no food was available. We would recommend the estate for a few nights for access to Munnar, but not as a luxury retreat in itself.

Room Tip: All the cottages are the same as far as we could tell
