“Incredible green”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Miles and miles of rolling green hills! A break from the sultry wet heat of Kerala and stunning views. The little messy town Munnar itself is not worth much but the tea plantations and the hills around form a unique landscape definitely worth the detour.
The smells, the air, the scenery takes you to another world and era. The tea museum is interesting especially for the video showing the history and discovery of the tea plantations and also to buy tea. There is a great authentic little Ayurveda treatment place – definitely worth a stop after the trekking!
Please don't use agencies for these places - it is totally unnecessary and a complete rip off! We did everything ourselves in India and saved so much but enjoyed so much more as well.

“The first place God created”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

One moment it is mile after mile of green undulating hills and the next moment it is shrouded in rain clounds. The fresh and pure smell of the soil and the tea leaves after a brief shower can never be forgotton. That's Munnar for you. At every bend, at every corner of the road, a new paradise unfolds before your eyes. It is amazingly beautiful. Munnar must be the first place God made. One thing strikes you is the hospitality extended to you in Kerala. Tourism is sort of worship to them. Thank you Kerala and specially thank you Munnar. We shall surely visit again.

“nice to see place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Tea or Chai is the most widely drunk beverage in the whole world. The tea plant, Camellia Sansis, is a cultivated variety of a tree that has its origins in an area between India and China. There are three main varieties of the tea plant - China, Assam, and Cambodia - and a number of hybrids between the varieties. The China variety grows as high as nine feet (2.75 metres). It is a hardy plant able to withstand cold winters and has an economic life of at least 100 years.
