“Very different vacation-must visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Kudos to the Gujarat Toursim Department for making such excellent arrangements in the middle of the desert. They had made good arrangements for picking up the guests from the railway station. On reaching the spot of Rann Utsav, we found that there was a festive mood around the whole place. The tents, dining hall, market, activities and the entire area was very nice and neatly laid out. The tents were very spacious and neat. We stayed in the Non-AC Tents which was good for the season. Surprise was the facility of free Wifi in the area. Although it was not available at all places, it was still a surprise.

The day trip to the Indo-Pak Border was enjoyable although long. You should visit Kala Dungar (Black Hill) on the way back from Indo-Pak Border to view the sunset. It was fabulous.

The other half-day trip to the crafts village could have been skipped but not the visit to view the sunset in the White Rann.

Must do: Indo-Pak Border, Sunset in White Rann and Sunset in Kala Dungar.

The evening cultural programs were good and the food was quite decent. The staff was very co-operative.

We had taken a two nights package which was good for the day trips but if you want to enjoy the place and the facilities, opt for the three nights plan.

When you go here, you can plan to visit some of the beautiful jain temples in Bhadreshwar and 72 Jinalay

“WOW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

You have to be in this place during the day and at night (specially during full moon) to get the feel of the location. The area is so quiet and wide. the white expanse goes till the eye can see and beyond. Also need to be careful while walking at night as some areas still wet and muddy and you may get muck on your shoes. On the whole a great experience all together.

“It is as flat as Indian bread”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

One can see horizon in more than 180 degrees without anything in between. When we went it was not totally dry so the salt formation was patchy. It looked better after the sun set.
Plan your trip near full moon.

“Great natural wonder”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

really nice esp on Sunrise. we went for both sunrise and sunset views of great white rann as part of Rann kutch festival and found the experience quite nice.

To see the real white rann, requires quite a bit of walk but its worth it

“White Desert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

The white salt desert is unique and as far as my information goes it is the only desert of this kind in the whole world. Specially on a full moon night the salt crystals sparkle like tiny bright stars. It is arranged by tourism department of Government of Gujarat. It is a 4 days and 3 nights gathering of more than 500 guests at one given time. Swiss tents are provided with all possible amenities. It is hot in afternoon and very cold in the nights. AIr conditioned tents are also available. You have to report at Bhuj airport/railway station/bus stand. From therein it is the responsibility of the organisers to take you around for 4 days and drop you back from the place you are picked. I advise that one must attend it, it is lifetime experience.
