I am a Goan settled in the US. I asked my brother to book a deluxe room at the Mandovi Hotel to spend my wedding night there. I'd never stayed at the Mandovi hotel before and always thought of it as a good hotel. Moreover all the 5-star hotels wouldn't allow anything less than a week's stay since it was peak season. The price we paid for the room was by no means cheap; it cost me more than a 4-star hotel in the US would have cost.
However, I was in for a shock when we stepped into the room after a lovely wedding! The room was the smallest I have ever seen and by no means classy! It had two small dingy beds. Even a Motel-6 would have been better! We thought that there'd been a mistake and that we had been given the wrong room. However my husband confirmed that it was indeed the right room. We told the clerk at the reception desk that it was our wedding night and that we were totally disappointed but that did not seem to evoke any reaction from him. We feel totally cheated and would not advise anyone to stay at this terirble place.
