“Excellent South Indian and Vegetarian Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Worth a stop if you want a break from all the local Goan cuisine. Also, the upstairs A/C room will give you a break from the warm weather. I recommend the Dosa, and Pav Bhaji (available after 3pm).

“simple & nice veg restrau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Kamat chain restrau with specialization in South Indian cuisine. Food was normal south indian chain. was a good change at Goa. has nice option of other north-indian & even chinese (those who would want chinese in south-indian style!) dished. reasonably priced.
seating bit stuffy. a no-nonsense simple type of place.

“Totally south indian restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Visited 2 Kamat restaurants - 1 near the Panjim bus stand and the 2nd near the Our Lady of Immaculate Church.Tried masala dosa at the bus stand and found it really nice and tasty. The tea was not that good though.Tried pav bhaaji at the church side but was not the same as found in most parts of Maharashtra. But here tea was too good.Do give it a try. On the name of serving north Indian dishes both restaurants have only one option - Puri Bhaaji which I didn't try at all !! Nice ambiance, neat and clean tables, properly dressed waiters and most importantly totally veg restaurants for veg lovers..

“Not the same Kamat as Pune”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

While I was looking for a Veg option for dinner I had come accross the Kamat Veg restaurant. Its very centrally located but it fails to match the expectations when compared to the ones I am used to at Pune. The dosa and uttapams were good but not crisp. Edges uncooked and Mysore Masala dosa with out the red powder chuttney inside the doas.
Surprised that its the same Kamat as I know.

“Kamat - South Indian restaurant in Panaji”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Kamat hotel (restaurant) is located just close to the church of the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception and Fontainhas (and very close to the bus station - a 5 min walking distance). The hotel serves South Indian cuisine - dosas, idlis, vadas etc. as well as very nice South Indian coffee and sweets =) It has 2 floors - the ground floor is non A/C , the 1st floor - A/C. It is a place where you can enjoy Indian food at very reasonable price and be among the locals for it's popular with Indians too.
And there is a nice shop called "Silk Emporium" that sells Indian cloths of very good quality nearby))). Don't miss!
