“Great stay with a family feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the Roatan bed and Breakfast in November of 2012 and was welcomed with open arms by Barbara. The B&B was a great place to stay! Staying with Barbara is like staying will family, very warm and friendly! She was more than helpful with details about Roatan and phone calls in Spanish if i needed. The room I had was very spacious and bright with a huge bed. I had my own bathroom which was also large and bright. Breakfasts were always full of food and very good. Barbara even made me lunch one day out of the goodness of her heart. The front porch has a beautiful view and a hammock to read in. The upper deck is good for stargazing, views and yoga although needs a tiny bit of repair on one side but no big deal really. The B&B is back from the main drag of the west end, which I liked, just a short walk to everything you need. Barbara is also friends with some of the divers and will tell you which shop to go with. The main room is large and open and full of books for some leisure time if it's a rainy day. All in all a wonderful stay with Barbara and Peppe the cat, I highly recommend it and will return for another stay, very good value.

We stayed a few nights near the beginning of January and really enjoyed it. Alex was waiting to pick us up at the airport and Barbara was there to greet us at the B&B. Barbara is a great host, and makes a tasty breakfast. Pepperoni the cat will make you feel at home. its in a quiet but convenient location, less than 10 minute walk off of the main street in West End We had a very spacious room with lots of windows. Large bathroom, huge bed, overhead fan, tv, and air conditioning (although we didn't use it). The rooftop patio needs work, but you do get a nice view of the sunset from up there. Barbara hopes to get the repairs done sometime this year, can't wait to see the final result when we go back! Thanks for everything Barbara!

We stayed at Barbara´s B & B for 4 nights over the New Year and really liked our stay. We booked it before we came and paid half as a deposit, the place was getting full so we took what was left, the "Master bedroom" for 72 USD. Bit more than we were planning to spend but we think the place was worth it, with breakfasts included.
As other reviewers have noted, Barbara takes good care of the house and her warm personality shows in the running of the place.
We appreciated the company of Pepperoni the cat in the balcony area and our chats with Barbara and other guests, plus the use of the wifi. The room was big and nice, it does get quite hot during some days but there is a fan and the evening breeze cools the air.
We did some diving in Roatan, can recommend that, and the great Thai restaurant by the sea: wonderful food. But from our visit we will best remember staying at this guesthouse, as it was so nice to be a bit away from the noise of the beach party area, and walking up to the B & B and seeing the houses and people on the way made us feel a bit closer to Roatan, like getting a glimpse of the ordinary life on the island. Cheers to Barbara from the two Finns :)

If you are looking for a quite little getaway outside of West End then this is the place. A 8-10 minute walk from the main strip take you to the place(it can be a little muddy if it rains and if you forget anything be ready to walk-and if you want to go back and forth throughout the day-be ready to walk)

The rooms are clean and have a simple charm to them. There could be some random pictures on the walls to spice things up but overall it is a very good place to stay. We were in the room underneath the porch on the ground level. It had nice and hot showers, and good kitchen and the toilet always worked. Two fans in the room that mildly circulated air. If you are looking to buy your own food and cook then this is what you want. The bed was ok...There was a futon for lounging in the room and a table and chairs on the patio for evening drinks.

Only complaints...if you are on the ground level you have no great access to the main level or the rooftop as we did not get a key to open the door to go upstairs. The rooftop is where you want to be in the evenings...we had to shout out lout for Barbara to come open the door (which she has no problem doing) but later in the night who wants to wake some one out of bed to open a door. The probelm would be solved if she provided a key for your room and one to get in to the main house like the other guests.

The main level is very open and spacious with hammocks on the large balcony and a very cool spiraling staircase. Breakfast was reliable and simple everyday and did the job. Overall a very nice place to stay, just be ready to walk a bit up the hill to get back from town. We felt very safe at night walking up to the house but could see how some hooligans could be in the bush looking to make a quick buck. But, we had no problems and the street is lit just about the entire way and there are houses along the the whole length of the road and easily within hollaring distance if you needed help (and i really do think people would rush out of their home to help you in the event you had trouble)

Drop the price by 5-10 USD per night and this place would be perfect. Barbara is awesome to by the way. Very friendly, accomadating and non intrusive. Just get that key for the main level if you stay on the ground level :-)

Thanks Barbara!!

Room Tip: If you stay on the ground level get a key from Barbara to get up stairs to the balcony/rooftop inste...

My boyfriend and I stayed with Barbara around New Year´s. Barbara organised us a taxi from the ferry terminal which was really nice. We really loved the house, the quietness of the location and the nice, big bed. The bathroom was fine and the water always hot. The walk is just 7 minutes up the hill (it does not feel dangerous walking up there at all!) and you are far away from the noise and touristiness of West End. We loved hanging out on the terrace (though we did not know that there was a terrace on the roof, bummer). The breakfast was quite simple, but ok. The only bummer was that our room was only cleaned once and we did not get new towels (and we stayed five nights). The bathroom was cleaned daily. In contrast to what other reviewers said we only paid 50% in advance, which I think is absolutely fine.

This was my first trip to Roatan. I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay in West Bay or West End. I ended up somewhat blindly booking The Roatan Bed and Breakfast because of the great price. I couldn't have been luckier. Barbara the owner was wonderful. She runs a very clean and beautiful house a short walk from the beach in West End. This house couldn't have a better location. It's far enough up the road from the beach so that you hear the wonderful forest noises at night, but close enough to be a ten minute walk from the bars and restaurants and great snorkel beaches. Barbara made a simple but very tasty breakfast every morning as well as great coffee. I look forward to going back and nursing my hangover on the hammock.

My husband and I and two other couples spent the day at the Upachaya lodge on a snorkel adventure. It was amazing! Barbara is so welcoming and her facility is outstanding. The guide for our snorkel trip was knowledgeable and took us to two incredible snorkel spots. The lunch that was served upon our return was quite good and the setting was lovely. I would have liked to stay at the B and B but we were only there for the day from our Oceania cruise. We booked this excursion on our own and it was well-priced and a highlight of our cruise to Central America.
