“Shhh... don't tell anyone. I want this place to myself!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2009

From start to finish this place is amazing. The owner and manager were very helpful in making all prearrival needs met. The location and views are fantastic. It's quiet but a quick 5 minute walk to the restaurants, etc... in west end. The rooms are spotless and spacious. The ceilings are beamed and the floors are wood. There is lots of storage space and a mini fridge that they stock with sodas and beer. The breakfasts are DELICIOUS!!!! Cereal, fruit and homemade yogurt plus a hearty hot plate that keeps you fueled up through a two tank dive. The managers, Ron and Bonnie are the best part of the whole equation. We spent many an early evening (and day and night) sitting around talking their ears off. They make this great place an amazing experience. If you want to experience beauty and make some new friends, this is the place to go!

This was a great place. It is secluded enough down the road from West End to be peaceful and quite. Yet it is close enough to te dive shops and restaurants and bars in the west end. Ron was the best and kept an eye out for me as a solo traveler.

We had a fabulous stay at Cocolobo and will be back for sure!
The rooms are simple but spacious and very clean. We were able to watch some fabulous sunsets from our balcony and the air conditioning was a major bonus.
Ron and Bonnie (the managers) were extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. They always had cold beer on hand after a long day of adventures and were very helpful with activity and restaurant recommendations.
We felt very safe with the night watchman on patrol every night and Heidi made a fabulous hot breakfast for us every morning.
West End Divers took us on some great diving adventures and had very reasonable prices.
We also loved the tacos and cold Salva Vida's at Cannibal's cafe and had a great time hanging out at Sundowners in West End.
All in all our trip to Roatan and our stay at Cocolobo was exactly the kind of trip we were looking for and we would highly recommend it :)

This place was fantastic! It was a five stars for me. The setting is magnificient... even better then on the pictures. The best sunsets on the island are there. The rooms are really "chic", breakfast delicious, service impeccable,...
The fact that it is at a 10 minutes walk from the center is an added bonus. It is very calm and quiet place away from the noise and dust of the main street. The swimming pool is great when you arrive from a complete day in the sea and sand.
The owners are awesome people.

As far as we could see, Cocolobo was the nicest hotel in the West End, at least from a design and comfort standpoint. Being a little off the main area, it required a 10-15 minute walk to get most places, but it was also very quiet. Beautiful setting and nice big clean rooms. The owners, Bonnie and Ron, were very welcoming and helpful with suggestions. Although possibly more expensive than other alternatives in the West End, which cater to a younger crowd, it remained an exceptionnal value.

I first planned to go to Cocolobo in July, but wasn't able to make the trip. Ron completely understood and simply transferred my deposit to this trip, when I was able to make it.

It was the easiest check in I've ever had. We were greeted at the bar by Ron, and were immediately offered cold beers. It had been a long day to that point and those cold beers were great. It was the easiest check-in process I've ever had at a hotel.

The hotel is wonderful. The rooms are spacious and the beds huge. Views from the rooms were fantastic, especially at sunset. The location is great - it's a five minute walk into the hustle and bustle of West End, yet completely secluded and quiet at night. Late night dips in the pool, under a full moon, were amazing.

I think I've found the best place to stay on Roatan - although I have no point of reference. I don't see any reason, whatsoever, to stay in another hotel. Ron was so easy to get along with, a really great guy that is very accomodating to all your needs. Even the night watchman was great. My buddy asked him for a wake up, in case he overslept, and he delivered on the minute.

Breakfast in the morning, which I only ate one day, was just perfect. Light and delicious...just what you'd want on an island break before hitting the beaches to snorkle, swim, dive, etc.

There are no negatives to this hotel - none. Period. So, if you're thinking about staying somewhere in Roatan...this is the place.

We just got back from Roatan and stayed in the West End at Cocolobo. This is one of the best spots in the West End. The rooms are very spacious, with great ocean front views. There is a coral front with no beach but with the bug issues on the beach this was all part of the plan and we are very glad we researched that. There is air conditioning, cieling fans, a mini fridge , and an in room safe as well. Breakfast is also included. The decks are large, covered and have their own hammocks. Cocolobo itself is in a fantastic location, quiet at night yet just a 3-5 minute walk to town. The best thing going for this place however are the host Ron and Bonnie. Very knowledgeable, very friendly and very helpful. If you need help with places to go, rental cars, recommendations they are always a big help, plus they are just fun and interesting people to talk to. We would definetly stay here again.
