“Very Personal Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

Tranquil Seas is unique in the fact that the owner Chris Benson is very one on one with all guests, making sure all accommodations are met. He scheduled multiple excursions and took care of all the arrangements so it could truly be a relaxing vacation. On top of that, the diving was outstanding, as well as the experiences with the dive instructors. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing, well spent vacation.

My girlfriend and I decided to do a "girls" trip to Roatan...some sun, fun, and diving. After much research, I happened upon Tranquil Seas, and I am so happy we stayed there! This resort has it all...relaxation, ocean front accommodations, restaurant, bar, diving facility and boats, wifi, and a new yoga studio. I was especially attracted to this place due to it being Eco Friendly (without sacrificing luxury), and because the diving shop was part of the resort. It's a private place with only a few rooms, and you can really relax there. Great for couples, families, and friends. Sandy Bay is beautiful, with snorkeling available to you right out the door that leads to the beach. The staff was sooooooo friendly, and helped with any questions or needs we had. Chris and Monica are friendly, engaging, and available when you need them to help with anything. The dive staff is very professional and puts safety first. The food is outstanding, and covers a wide variety of dietary options. If you want to go into town...aka the West End, it's a five minute taxi ride and $1 USD per person. The restaurant on site closes after meal times and on Thursdays, so it is wise to bring some snacks in case you get hungry in between, and you have to eat off site on Thursday for lunch and dinner. We really enjoyed our stay and will DEFINITELY return!!

The setting was perfect. Chris has done a fantastic job building a first class resort. The diving was great and we look forward to returning in the future. We brought our 14 month old baby and they made every effort to make him and us comfortable.

My wife and I spent a week at Tranquil Seas earlier this month. I had booked via email with the owner Chris Benson. He was very responsive to all questions and was quick to have his partner Monica contact my wife directly to discuss her dietary requirements (no wheat, no soy) to ensure that meals wouldn't be a challenge. Both were very positive and accommodating.

Our flight in was delayed by 6 hours and yet Chris was still there at the airport to pick us up when we landed. Knowing we ad a long day of travel (exacerbated by the delay) he took care of everything for us. We arrived at the lodge just in time for dinner and a presentation by a local author and underwater photographer. Samir (sp?) was quick to provide us with refreshments while Chris personally took our bags to our room. Monica took our dinner orders and the food was freshly prepared and delicious! As the week went on it was quickly apparent that this incredible level of service was not just for first impressions. Day after day, meal after meal, dive after dive we received the same attentive service. Chris and Monica made all arrangements for us to visit various spots on the island without us having to be involved beyond asking about it and then specifying the date/time.

The facilities are meticulously maintained and conveniently located close to West End without being in the centre of all the day trippers from the cruise ships. This gave us easy access to shops and restaurants via taxi ($2-3 each way) but not all the foot traffic if staying in West End or West Bay.

The private cabana that we had (Eagle Ray) was large, well furnished and serviced. The king bed was of a quality found in 5 star hotels.

The dive staff is incredibly knowledgeable and the facilities are well laid out including well vented lockers conveniently located next to the beach for all your gear to dry each night. The boats are perfect in size and speed (no long slow trips to dive sites even those "further away"). The dive masters take advantage of the small dive groups to point out various sea life and then discuss it after on the ride to the next site.

While I could go on and on, it would be best to just go see it for yourself!

We will definitely be returning to Tranquil Seas for future getaways.

One parting recommendation - order the paella - you must request a day in advance so that Monica can get and prepare fresh ingredients…we requested it for our last dinner and it was superb!

Room Tip: They all looked very good. We stayed in the Eagle Ray and it was perfect for us!

My partner and I stumbled upon Tranquilseas after being thoroughly disappointed with - and checking out nearly immediately from - one of the Island's most prominent, high-priced "Resorts" nearby. After explaining the reasons for our severe disenchantment (obnoxious guest "type", exploited Honduran staff, obvious effort taken to ensure American-style comfort (food and culture)...think, College Spring Break in Florida) to one of the local realtors, he immediately suggested Tranquilseas, and the rest is golden! The accommodations were beautiful, the atmosphere PRECISELY what one would hope to find in a peaceful landing place from which to explore the island, and the food was the absolute best that we tasted anywhere on the island. It was quiet and private, yet inherently relaxed and homey. I will recommend it to anybody, including the most discriminating traveller.

My teen daughter and I spent a wonderful week at Tranquil Seas over Thanksgiving week. Everything was practically perfect. First, the location is beautiful. You can tell that the owners put love and thought into everything they've built here. There are seven cabanas - we were in Gecko, which was large, nicely decorated, perfectly clean, and had a gorgeous view of the water. The entire resort is built of local woods and decor, with tropical landscaping and views from everywhere. Right on the water.
Second, the owners and staff were friendly and helpful in every way. We felt like friends after the first day; they made us feel right at home.
Third, the dive shop and staff were professional, excellently maintained gear, and very high standards in taking care of divers no matter whether they were novice or experienced. We felt safe and learned a lot just by diving with such good divemasters. We'd wake up, head for breakfast at the restaurant, and jump on the boat (Tranquil Seas has it's own dock), and off we'd go for two dives. Back for lunch and spent the rest of the day relaxing. We only left the resort once, everything we needed was right there.
We purchased the room, meals, and dives all inclusive and felt it was a very good value. Highly recommend Tranquil Seas as a relaxing, fun dive vacation location for families or couples.
We miss it!

Our girlfriend and I just finished spending 11 days on the island. We stayed at several places on the island and spent our last 4 nights with Tranquilseas. The amount of thought and work that went into this place is astonishing! The grounds are absolutely beautiful with lots of plant life and the rooms are amazing. The views of the ocean from the place is breathtaking. The place really makes you feel like you are on a secluded island and is only a short cab ride to West End which has some great bars and night life. Unfortunately the weather turned bad on us at the end, so we didn't get a chance to try Yoga but the Yoga floor on the top floor of one of the structures has an amazing view of the ocean. The food was delicious and the owners were super friendly. The place really makes you feel as if you are at home. If you are looking for a dive resort with everything you need under one roof, this place is definitely it!

If you are looking for a break in diving for a day and interested in hiking, talk to the owners. They have explored the entire island and know a lot of cool spots to see. We will definitely be returning in the future to stay at Tranquilseas.
