The Baobab Guesthouse is an excellent base to explore Cape Coast and surroundings. It is right next to the Castle and beach. The very affordable room price goes 100% to charity.
You have shared showers and toilets here, but everything is clean and well maintained. We certainly didn't mind. The rooms are light and have a nice seabreeze.
The restaurant is a recommendation in itself. Fresh coffee, delicious pancakes, homemade fruitjuice (try pineapple moringa), smoothies and various other main dishes, all vegetarian.
The staff are half German and half Ghanean volunteers, all very cheerful and friendly.
Watch out for taxi drivers offering supposedly cheap rides to Kakum: the trotro service from Sudu station is very easy, and only 2 Cedi per person.
