“Fantastic, very relaxed place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Baobab Guesthouse is an excellent base to explore Cape Coast and surroundings. It is right next to the Castle and beach. The very affordable room price goes 100% to charity.
You have shared showers and toilets here, but everything is clean and well maintained. We certainly didn't mind. The rooms are light and have a nice seabreeze.
The restaurant is a recommendation in itself. Fresh coffee, delicious pancakes, homemade fruitjuice (try pineapple moringa), smoothies and various other main dishes, all vegetarian.
The staff are half German and half Ghanean volunteers, all very cheerful and friendly.
Watch out for taxi drivers offering supposedly cheap rides to Kakum: the trotro service from Sudu station is very easy, and only 2 Cedi per person.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5, which had a view on the castle, beach, and city. Excellent!

“Great, inexpensive place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

The rooms are well-kept and have fans, and the common sink, bathroom, and showers are clean and well maintained. Bring your own mosquito net, and also check with what the bed situation is in your room as far as single beds vs. double beds before you go if you are traveling with people who aren't ok with sharing. Great gift shop that sells student-made crafts from the vocational school the guesthouse supports and delicious vegetarian restaurant attached that also benefits the school. About an hour from Kakum and 200 meters from the beach/Cape Coast Castle. Overall a great place to stay that benefits a great cause.

“Lovely Place that supports a charity!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

What a great place. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who can give you accurate information on where to catch a trotro (a rarity in Ghana!) The restaurant serves incredible vegan food (heaven!) and you support a fantastic charity.
Excellent location across the street from the castle and the beach, you can't go wrong!
