3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2011

I have mixed feelings toward this hotel – it was comfortable, the rooms were huge, and I was able to have a warm shower (!), but I was left with a terrible first impression after discovering two huge cockroaches dead on the bathroom floor. True, this means they sprayed the room before we arrived, but it left me worried as to what else was living in the room. The air conditioning worked well, as did the fan. The tv was fine, though the reception wasn’t great. We had a fridge in the room also, but we didn’t use it. We paid 34 GH cedis for the night, for a room with a king bed. Not too bad split between two people. There was no restaurant at the hotel, so we went to the restaurant next to Cape Coast Castle for dinner and breakfast (slow, spotty service).

Overall, this hotel was fair. If you’re willing to spend more, there are luxury hotels in Cape Coast and Elmina that are on the beach. Our hotel on a hill had a lovely view, but was rather underdeveloped for such a great piece of real estate. It was poorly marked and very difficult even for our Ghanaian driver to find. I would only recommend this place for travellers on a moderate budget, but call ahead and have a VERY good idea of where it is before you set out because even the directions we received from the hotel staff were very unhelpful.
