With such lush reviews its hard to imagine this restaurant for its bad service, but it was there.
The night started out wondrous. Picked us up from the hotel on time. Arrived and promptly seated...so far so good huh. The atmosphere is pleasant sitting next to the water. I asked for a advertised mojito, they did not have it. OK, odd, well I'll just have bottled water then. The left for a few and then came back insisingt on me choosing another drink. I said "No Thanks". We order next, which was the braised beef. This was good, I will give them that.
So after an hour our experience was complete. We gathered our belongings and paid our bill at the same time asking for a ride back to the hotel. The gentleman said it will take 20 minutes for the ride as it is coming back from the sofitel. NOW IT GETS GOOD!
Ok, 20 min. makes sense for the timing of returning other guests. However find it odd that the driver and the van we arrived in is at the front of the restaurant, well, maybe they have another driver or another van. So we sat around, 30 minutes pass...40 minutes pass...well 20 min late for a ride seems a bit long to just sit on uncomfortable chairs at the front so my wife gets up asks the same gentleman when our ride will get here. This is where their customer service is the worse we have seen. He says "We ate too fast, they schedule a shuttle back at 2 1/2 hour increments". WOW!! so 20 min ago you tell me a ride will be here for us and now we have to wait an additional 50 min for a ride!! This information would have been good to know before we got in your van, before we finished our meal, and oh maybe not have lied to our face and tell us the ride would be here shortly. We could have at least planned on getting a taxi back to the hotel.
So my wife is fuming mad, we don't show it because we have manners but sit back down and wait..20 minutes later the owner asks if we want coffee or water...sorry buddy a little late for that. So in the end after 2 1/2 hours we head back into the same van we arrived in that was sitting right there all along. So in the end, even if the food was good, service is still 70% of the experience. And so, keeping us hostage at the restaurant, I think, is rated very low in my book.
