“AH!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2012

If you are visiting Siwa this is an absolute must. This is such an old temple and is just amazing. I enjoyed the most amazing experience here. The views are spectacular, the village surrounding the temple is great to see and the children are friendly and will come and chat to you.

“Alexander the Great came here--you should, too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

OK, I am an anthropologist so 'ruins' get me, but this one is fun, because it lets you see how the priests manipulated the visitors. You can see how the priests got the oracle to 'speak', and how the offerings 'disappeared'. I don't know whether Alexander the Great was fooled, but I was entertained!

“A ruin is a ruin is a ruin is a.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

It's a ruin. There isn't much there but the view of the desert. If you have never seen a ruin or a desert, fine. I have seen much better ruins in much better places. Siwa was a waste of time.

“A little tiny temple!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2008

This is a small Temple built in the Graeco Roman Period - It's wisdom was so sought after that Alexander the Great made a special trip out there to consult the Oracle and gain answers to some of his questions.
The Temple is situated on the top of a hill, and is quite small by Egyptian standards, comprising three sanctuaries and a single hall. Very little carving survives - and this is only visible right at the very top of the walls.
The views from the Aghurmi hill are stunning - and it is worth the trip just for this.
The climb up to the top is very easy going, most people will find access relatively easy.
Entrance into the temple is 20 LE.
At the bottom of the hill alongside the ticket office, you will likely be met by small children selling local handicrafts.
