“Embrace it, smile and get to know the team, we had an excellent time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

Okay, so, first off, yes the Russians are unbearably rude but you or the hotel can't change that. What we did find is that putting this to one side, getting to know the team was a big plus, they loved the UK guests as we're polite and patient (Russian friends of the week of July 28th please take note that it's the little things that count).

Yes, sunbeds by the pool were scarce, mainly because people completely ignore the requests not to reserve them so, usually towels on unused beds for hours. Ask the team, they will get one for you, alternatively, there are hundreds if beds free on the beach.

Yes, it is a 5 min walk to the sea people, this is a shallow beach, excellent for beach combing, it's 10 minutes to the end if the Jetty for snorkelling - amazing reef, not exactly a hike!!

All in all, the team here are great, Med and his team did absolutely everything they could for all of our group. Nothing was too much trouble and considering it was Ramadan I'm not sure I could have worked in those temperatures whilst fasting!!!

I don't agree the food was awful. The main buffet was indeed a challenge mainly due to the lack of patience in our fellow guests but the staff really did try to help us out and sort tables and seating. They even waited drinks to the table when they didn't have to. Once again, proof manners and the odd "please and thankyou" cost nothing!!

We ate in all of the extra restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed them, hats off to the Fishermans for their Chowder and I have to say I could have lived off some if the deserts!! The BBQ was a great experience too, yes, you may have liver but really? They do TELL you what it is, hardly a horse meat scandal!!

Did we rate the holiday? Absolutely. I'd agree this isn't a 5 star in comparison to a European/Western location but be realistic. It's Egypt, a beautiful country dying on its feet because we are losing track on reality. To the woman throwing a strop and insulting the staff because one water bottle a day "is just not good enough" think about the damage that the throw away Westerners do with their over consumptive attitudes. It's not hard to fill a cup and no, they don't charge for tea and coffee.

Would we stay here again? Absolutely. Chilled fun, laughter with the team and a staff that really did want to help and wanted us to have a great holiday. We did. Thank you to all of Med and his very patient team!!!!

Where can i start this was a horrible hotel and i never intend to go back there even if they change the unfriendly and rude staff!

We arrived at the hotel in a minibus as soon as we got through the gates i thought we had arrived at colditz not a hotel that was rated 5 star on the internet. I walked in at 9.30 but i knew that the food finished at 10 so i asked if I could go to the room just to leave my case there and go to have something to eat, But the staff made us sit in the lobby which is full of old tatty sofas until about 5 to 10 so then we FINALY got to the room and it was TERRIBLE, the bath was full of mould and even a child wouldn't fit in it it is tiny! We immediately rang up and asked to move rooms so we did. The 2nd room was ok but not great. The shower had to be fixed twice, the door wouldn't lock but at least you could close it unlike the 1st room and the wardrobe only had two hangers!

The next day we went to the pool but they wasn't any sun beds left so we went to another pool with a water slide but oh my lord it was disgusting you couldn't even see to the bottom i don't know what kind of horrible infections you could catch in there.

The food was horrible i bet the people that have been in I'm a celebrity would have had better food while they was in the jungle than the 'food' in this hotel. I had to make a meal out of rice every day because it was the only thing that was bearable.

Some of the drinks were okay but the beer was warm so was the coke but that was flat aswell because it came from a bottle which had probably been open most of the day with insects drinking it.

I had only met one member of staff that wasn't rude to you but he was the manager and didn't help with any complaints. I seen one women get assaulted by one member of staff, she got her arm twisted and got pulled out of the restaurant while he was shouting " I will get you kicked out" but she only filled a bottle of water up!

I had to move out of this hotel after one and a half days because it was unbearable and i WOULD NOT advise anyone going to this grotty, old, dirty, grim and trash can of a "hotel' !!!!!

I had to pay over £400 to move out of this hotel but i agreed to because it was the best money i have ever sent in my life!

Hi all,
Just returned from AA Amwaj after a relaxing two week stay.
To say I was concerened by the extremely bad reprts on the site was an understatement, but having been to Nabq bay twice before I was sure everything would be ok... and it was!

The good points of the hotel and the staff far outweigh the bad in fact the bad were niggles really.
With a little bit of thought and effort the hotel could be very good indeed.
Things like very small glasses for drinks. (Although if you were polite and friendly with the bar staff they would give you larger glasses!) The pool bar ran out of beer at least twice a day ran out of gas for soft drinks, ran out of Cola, Spite or Fanta regularly as well, very frustrating. The hotel advertises a sunken in-pool bar however they don't man it and there are several chairs missing!
The floor tiles around the pool a breaking up in places and will soon become a hazard although arent too bad yet.

The beach is nice but the only way into the sea is off the end of the jetty, which looks to be very deep water. Although there is a flag system and a lifeguard there.

However as I say the good parts outweigh the bad, The service is fantastic from the reception staff to the pool lads they go out of their way to make your stay special.
Abdo and Ibrahim in the main restaurent were great, even setting up a special table with flowers etc for my Daughters 15th Birthday ans always saving us a table with our preferred drinks already. In the Atrium Bar Mohammed would never let us queue for drinks sending us back to where we were sitting and fetching them. Then the pool bar staff (sorry forgotton names) Were always polite ready to chat and appologise for running out of drinks.

We had a noisy air con unit in the room, once reported the staff were there to fix it within 5 mins and then kept checking it was okay.

The pool at the hotel is huge and varying depths, so if you have young kids you need to watch them.

I will agree with other posters that the entertainment for Brits is non-existant but if you are looking for a laid back, relaxing holiday this is not a problem.

I would reccommend this hotel if you are looking for a laid back relaxing holiday by a great pool.

As I said at the beginning a Nice hotel but with more attention to detail could be an extremely nice place

Room Tip: We had a third floor room great pool and side sea view. Requested by email befor we went (Room1314)

The worst hotel we have been to! The first day walked in didn't feel well come! Went to the room yuck bathroom was discusting dirty. So we ask to change the room which they did! 2nd room yuck yuck blood in the toilet sit! I scream and ask to change again 3rd room! Lol was ok!

Service was absolutely bad! Food discusting everyday we had tummy pain 2weeks but didn't not enjoyed it couldn't wait to go home?

Few people was nice helpful but rest of them very rude! Waste of our money. Why u want to pay for cup of tea when u all ready paid all inclusive no cocktail at all they used plastic cups! terrible hotel!! U even have to pay for ice cream nothing for kids!

No water in sea u have to walk 80 or more mitres to rich to the sea! Not nice hotel at alll.
Don't waste your money in this hotel!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise! Ask for sea view!

Recently returned from AA Amwaj.
Overall we had a good time.
Room - no complaints at all.
Food - ok , you will not starve . We went out to eat every evening to escape the madness in the restaurant not the food.
Pool areas- Good - very clean
Beach - Very relaxing - spotless.
Staff - Cleaners - good - Beach bar staff - not good - Restaurant staff - some lovely some not.
Tamara at guest relations is fantastic . Really helps with any issues you may have. This hotel is very interested on your views when you are there. They attempt to alleviate any issues you may have.
The biggest problem for us was not anything about the hotel . It was the Russian Guests they are just vile. Any questions please ask. I would go back .

If you are British avoid this hotel. I have just returned today from 11 nights there with my two teenagers. We had to eat at the Hard Rock Café so that we had some decent food as my daughter was living on bread rolls. I am by no means a fussy eater but I don't class roast potatoes and rice as a substantial meal. It is all geared towards the Russians and, even if you complain to the management, they don't want to know. It was by no means a cheap holiday. 5 star hotel and resort - that is a joke I would say it is 2 star at the most. Perhaps if you stayed in one of the refurbished rooms it might have been better but the hotel is in need of a major revamp and people should be told that it is all geared towards the Russians. We ate at the Italian a few times and the barbecue once but if you think you are eating steak you are wrong as it is liver. The food is really bland and has no taste. Having been on trips such as the Vip cruise (which was excellent), quad biking and the star gazing trip which was also fantastic, the other British people who stayed at different hotels were well catered for and had nice food. Also, our wristbands were cut off at 12 noon but our transport wasn't till 6 so we had to go to the Hard Rock Café to get drinks as in 40 degree heat it isn't on to be sat for that length of time with no drinks given that we arrived late (2300 hrs) so we hadn't had our full entitlement anyway as we missed a day. I didn't think it was worth paying £75 for 6 hours so we could get a late checkout. The other people who we spoke to on the way to the airport got to keep their All Inclusive wristbands right up until they left and they didn't have to pay for a late checkout. The entertainment is dire. It is a chubby bloke who can't sing who is there most nights with the odd bit of karaoke thrown in and it lasts for little over an hour and is finished just after 10 every night. The bar gets busy then so there are lots of queues. The Russians are rude and arrogant and are mostly there just for the drink as they start as soon as the bar is open and continue all day and have no manners. Also, there is no smoking ban in operation here so people smoke at Reception and if you are out for a meal they can also smoke. There are lots of touts here and every 10 yards a taxi will beep to ask if you want a taxi. Take plenty of English money with you as you get a better exchange rate and you will need it as you will be eating out a lot. The only good thing going for it is the majority of staff are really nice and the hotel is in a good location in Nabq Bay about a 20 minute walk from the Hard Rock Café, TGI Friday's, Macdonald's, KFC etc. I did submit my complaints to Tamara the Guest Relations lady and to Ahmed the Assistant Front Office Manager as did other British guests but they didn't want to know. You need to get up early to book your sunbed as some people are in the pool just after 6am. The slides are only open between 10-1 and 3-5 every day but it is a lot quieter there and you can usually get a sunbed. The Atrium café is supposedly 24 hours but what they don't tell you is it is only for people who have booked a suite. You can't swim on the beach as you can walk out quite a distance before it gets deep. If you think ice cream, fresh orange or cappuccino is included in the All Inclusive forget it - it will be charged to your room. Ice cream is £1 a time. They should make this hotel for Russian guests only as they go out of their way to accommodate them. The locals even say how rubbish this hotel is. They love British people in Sharm as we have manners. Sharm El Sheikh as a resort is nice but just not this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel but if you are set on going here get a room away from the Reception area as it...

We have just enjoyed a lovely week here as a family. The staff really go out of their way to look after you. The rooms are a good size and have great airconditioning which is a must!
The food on the main restaurant is mainly aimed at he Russians but each night we all found several things that we enjoyed, usually from the BBQ area. The kids loved the Italian restaurant and we all had a meal at the BBQ by the pool one evening where we were given our own BBQ on our table. Our favourite place for lunch was the beach bar where there was a fish and chip style lunch and salad all served with a great view!

I know there is a task force trying to upgrade this hotel but I really appreciate the simplicity of it and think that a few small changes (such as a second drinks station and prepared sandwiches or cold snacks at he pool bar to ease the queues) are all that is needed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, if you are looking for a relaxing, reasonably priced hotel then this is perfect....we will be returning
