Thank you for choosing Governor Amwaj and taking the time to write your comments on Trip Advisor. We are disappointed that your stay did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately we did not receive any comments during your stay about your dissatisfaction which would have given us the opportunity to improve your stay. We hope you return to Egypt in the future

A friend and I visited the Amwaj in early February and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was my first visit to Egypt and my first ‘all inclusive’ experience, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I wasn’t disappointed. On arrival we were checked in promptly and shown to our room – which was a fair walk away. When we booked, we looked on here for advice and booked a ‘pool view’ as they were supposed to be the best. We expected the room to be in the main complex overlooking the main pool... this was not the case. We did have a pool view, but not the main pool but a quieter pool. At first we thought about complaining and moving rooms (after all we had booked a pool view), but after our first night we realised that apart from the longish walk from the main hotel complex, this pool area was actually much much nicer than the main pool – and you weren’t hassled as much by people trying to sell you trips and excursions. The big plus was that the sun beds were much better. The room was spacious and the beds were large and clean. The bathroom was a little tired but was functional. The shower was good. The hotel staff all worked very hard indeed. Particularly the waiters in the restaurant, who were always on duty and always helpful and friendly. ‘Our’ waiter, Eslan, was particularly good. Our table was always set for us and drinks ready – whatever time we arrived. I’ve seen some unfair comments about the food. Personally I thought the food was great. The variety was good (always meat, fish or vegetarian options), lots of pasta, rice and potato options too. Breakfast was particularly good, eggs and pancakes cooked fresh to your liking. A good choice of bread and lots and lots of pastries. The guys in the Soweto bar were good too, and within a day or two we were regulars. The alcoholic drinks are only all inclusive after 10pm. The ‘free wifi’ is patchy around the hotel, we found the strongest signal in the Soweto bar. The animation team were fun, they were friendly but not pushy. We went to watch their comedy show and it was very funny. We also had a spa treatment , we were planning to do so anyway, but it was a bit of a hard sell approach to be honest. Whilst I can’t complain about the treatment (sauna, scrub, wrap and full body massage was excellent) we were told we could pay by credit card – this was not the case and caused us a big problem. It got sorted in the end due to a helpful guy on reception (Ahmed I think?). Half way through our stay the ‘guest services’ ladies phoned us to ask if all was well. We thought that was nice. The good points: The hotel was spotlessly clean, food was good, staff were friendly and the beer was excellent (and soft drinks were proper coca cola). The not so good points... the amount of hassle round the main pool/on the beach to buy excursions/trips/treatments. The Italian restaurant wasn’t great. Avoid the wine, it tasted watered down. Would I stay here again? Yes, absolutely :-)

Room Tip: Rooms in the 'new block' that begin with 3 are a fair walk from the main hotel... BUT are ne...

Have just returned from my 3rd visit to this lovely hotel. My friends and I were welcomed like old friends and from the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty. We were allocated superb rooms with wonderful sea views and large balcony. () when we come back next February (already booked) it would be wonderful to have the corner executive suite if you can make that possible Ahmed ???)...The rooms are spotlessy clean and the cleaning staff are always friendly and like all other staff at this hotel nothing is too much trouble.
The Oyoun restauarant is newly refurbished and very, very nice, the food is superb something for everyone regardless of how picky you are. The manager and staff are fantastic catering for your every need, never an empty glass or dirty plate left on the table. The Italian restaurant is equally as good, marvellous staff but please bring back the wonderful pizzas that were on the menu last year. The staff at the pool bar were amazing, as we had gone for a totally relaxing holiday we spent most of our time around the pool and never once had to go to the bar, the staff just seem to know when you are in need of refreshment The same with the pool/towel man who are always there the minute you need the umbrella. The red flag idea is ingenius if you dont want to be bothered...it really works.
Thank you to all the staff at the Amwaj for making our holiday memorable, see you all again next February.

We are extremely pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for your feedback. I will pass on your request to Mr Ahmed regarding the specific room you have requested. Food and beverage do their best to cater for all nationalities with the food, we are very happy that there was always something you liked. I will pass on your comment about the pizza’s in the Italian restaurant to the food & beverage manager, so maybe by the next time you arrive the pizzas will be back!! I will also pass on your positive comments to the pool staff, they will be really pleased with your positive feedback. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the future.

We had two fantastic weeks here. The staff were friendly, helpful and to be honest could not do enough for us.
The food was of a good standard and plenty of choice.
The beach was clean and there was always plenty of sunbeds.
The room was quiet and commutable.
Daniel and the animation team work very hard and always a joy to chat with. “Lovely jubbly”.
There is a free shuttle bus every night at 8.15 from the hotel to Soho Square and returns at 10.30 and is a must.
If you do not want to be disturbed while sunbathing around the pool use a red flag available with your towels.
We was worried about going to this hotel after reading the bad reviews but they must have worked very hard on putting things right because we cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: WE had a room in the old block facing the east it was quiet and had the sun all day.

We were transferred to this hotel around three weeks prior to our holiday in April 2012 at the Hauza Beach, we was a little concerned as we had been to the Hauza and knew what to expect, we needn't have been concerned as the Amwaj is 100% better than the Hauza Beach we had a very good holiday the hotel and all the staff were brilliant and looked after our needs over and above our expectations, we returned to the Hauza in October 2012 and was very disappointed with the quality of the place after staying at the Amwaj we were that impressed by our last visit to Amwaj we have booked to return June 2013, and have recommended this place to friends some of which are coming with us,

Room Tip: garden view lovely 1st thing in morning

This is the hotel me and my husband moved to from the Tamra beach hotel, I was considering going home after my stay at Tamra but the Rep suggested we try here first. From the minute we arrived my holiday began from the warm welcome we recieved from reception and front of house manager to being allocated a superb room with fantastic views of the sea and pool area. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible I must mention Doaa and Hamed in the restaurant who made meal times a joy, the food is of a really high standard with plenty of choice and the chefs are always smiling and happy to help and explain any of the food you may be unsure of, I loved the egg station :) The waiters in the bars are always helpful and chat and if your lucky as we were you might get a song from them. The staff also in Soweto bar were amazing and made sure my husband got to watch the match ha ha cocktails are fab. The animation team need a mention they are so much fun and encourage everybody young and old to get involved Luka and Daniel are really friendly and the lovely girl that played darts each day was a star. I could go on and on to recommend this hotel how it is rated lower than Tamra beach is a mystery to me as it excels that hotel by miles. The decor cleanliness food staff are all of the highest standard. I must also say thankyou to the management who always asked how we were and loved hearing feedback, and our Mamoud the milkshake guy from the halfway hut you always brightened up our day. Will definately return to this hotel in the future and would tell everyone do not listen to any bad reviews. Thankyou to all at Amwaj look forward to seeing you all again soon xxxxx
