“Lovely hotel not fully all inclusive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

Ok so first of all the hotel is beautiful. The food is very nice in the al a carte restaurants and the main buffet. The staff are super. The only disappointment and the thing that let's the hotel down is that the hotel is not fully all inclusive, as you have to pay for drinks in the lobby, this is ridiculous when you pay for all inclusive, such a shame as this is the only reason that would stop me from returning.

This is our 2nd stay at this hotel over the Christmas and new year period and had a great time once again. The food was great and the New Year's Eve buffet was fantastic once again. All the waiters ,bar staff and recreation staff are so helpful and will do anything that you need. The only down side was when we came to Check out I was accused by one of the management of stealing a set of bathroom scales which I was not very happy about at all. But overall I had a excellent stay and will be thinking of stopping again this year.

We arrived at Sharm airport @ 8pm by 9pm we were in the bar having a drink. I agree at the time of year we went 5th to 13th of Jan 14 it was cold at night but we had done our research and took woollies to compensate.
I need to say Lucy the hotel rep is a class act she cant do enough for her service users. Lucy did a customer survey with us which we were more than pleased to complete however their is no specific question pertaining to Lucy and we think she should have one as she is fantastic.
The staff at the Luna bar and Nima bar are just the best ever Mohamed is such a nice man.
Me and our Adele can't praise the room cleaner enough he is called Ackhmed what a cracker.
The food is fantastic the management are amazing. me n our Adele Adele had a competition to find a problem there are no probs please visit this hotel you will not be dissapointed

Room Tip: upgrade to room 1204 the garden room the views are amazing and you will get our cleaner who has a ar...

I stayed here with my wife over the new year for a week and even though the hotel was nice, clean and spacious it lacked certain elements & atmosphere that would not make me return again.

The lobby bar charged for drinks, so at night you had to go to a pool bar which was cold at night this time of year (early Jan) or into the Nuts bar which was exclusively for English until they opened the nightclub at 11pm and then all nationalities welcome but drinks then became chargleable. It seemed quite difficult to get a drink, sit down and relax anywhere. Apparently a new bar area is being made above the spa which will hopefully remedy this situation.

The food was generally poor, more like school dinners and poorly presented which was a shame as News Years Eve was amazing and showed what they were capable of. The food was far from consistent. Some residents were being offered additional vouchers to eat in either of the ala carte restaurants which were generally better but not great.

The free wifi was practically non existent in the lobby due to over usage as it couldn't cope with the numbers wanting to use it. I purchased a 3 day pass for £30 but gave it back after a day as it was useless.

No coffee or tea in room, you have to pay 5 euros a day for a tray with kettle and they put a mixture of 6 bottles of fizzy drinks in the fridge. The self service coffee machines at the bar and pool ran out of milk by 2.00pm and not restocked until the next day. To get a proper coffee you had to go to the lobby bar and pay for the privilege.

The spa was OK but not great. The going price was £20 a massage for 50mins. We went to the Salon also. Be careful as they charge low prices to get you in then add on when in there with no mention of price till the end.

After reading the reviews we were slightly shocked about this hotel. I even visited the hotel Magic Life were we stayed in the summer thinking maybe all hotels where at half measures, but I was proven wrong instantly as Magic Life was in full swing.

We raised our concerns with customer relations and a meeting was organised with other guest the day before we left with the hotel management but we did not attend as on a trip.

I think the hotel caters to the majority clientele at the time hence I would say it was 60% Russians, 20% Italians and 20% British during our stay, it just didn't get the balance right.

After our first visit to Sharm I now feel lucky that we found a good hotel as if we had based Sharm on the Grand Plaza I doubt very much we would have ever returned.

We spent New Year in the Grand Plaza and were blown away by the high standards set on New Years Eve - the food was incredible and the effort all the staff went to was exceptionally high - well done to all concerned. However, apart from that one night, the rest of our holiday was of a very low standard. We have stayed in Sharm before and will be recommending Magic Life to anyone looking for a break. Unfortuantely, the Grand Plaza has all the makings of a very good hotel - the rooms are fine, the pools are lovely and the infrastructure is generally impressive, but the running of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired.
The food is appalling and we ended up resorting to eating out, which we have never done before on an all inclusive holiday. Dining in the restaurant takes me back to school dinner days - unappealing food, served with no finesse our attempt at making it appetising. The restaurant manager asked us for our 'honest' opinion and the proceeded to blame the high number of Russians staying in the hotel for the low quality.
Many of the staff in the hotel (except the animation team who seemed a bundle of continuous fun), seemed very demoralised and down in the mouth.
The wifi in the hotel is limited to the lobby area (4 sofas) and it very very hit and miss. We paid 330 eyptian pounds for 3 days internet that we could use in our room and it never worked - we ended up getting a refund.
This is also the only all inclusive resort I have ever stayed in where it was difficult to get a coffee/soft drink/alcoholic drink. The whole of reception is served by a lobby bar which is 100% chargable (and ridiculously expensive). Then there is a 'NUTS' disco bar (don't ask) which is open in the evenings until 11pm when it becomes chargeable - it serves a very limited range of totally unpleasant cocktails and is possibly the most souless bar I have ever sat in. Failing this, you have to walk down the resort to sit by the pools and have a drink outside on wooden benches at the Luna Bar which shuts (if it opens at all) at 11pm. This makes it impossible to sit comfortably and enjoy a drink in the evening - really very poor.
I wish the Grand Plaza well and really hope they take on board the feedback that we have given both on Trip Advisor and in person during our stay, but if it doesn't, I fear for the future.

I spent Christmas and New Years in this wonderful place. From the moment we arrived the attention we were given was great. Our room was adjacent to the kitchens of the adjacent hotel and made a little noise quite early in the morning. The following day after speaking to the front desk our room was immediately changed. The room was clean and comfortable. Being vegetarian all inclusive can be a hit and miss, however the staff and chefs in the kitchen made us specially prepared vegetarian food daily which tasted great. We really didn't need to eat in any other restaurant!
Thank you for a wonderful stay and we are hoping to visit again!

Room Tip: We stayed in 2102.....excellent stay!
