Me and Nicola married in September and decided upon the Sea Club Resort in Sharm as destination for our honeymoon.
We were under no illusions that we may not have experienced the best of Egypt’s weather – how wrong we were to doubt! The weather for the time of the year was still better than England offers us! Regularly, the day time temperatures hit 30+ - the ‘coldest’ day was still early 20’s. Even in the evening, the air was warm and pleasant. At no point did we experience ANY rain whatsoever, although we’re told after we left, Cairo experienced snow for the first time in a hundred years and other parts of Egypt experienced rain – Sharm doesn't get it though!
Simply brilliant! A short transfer away from the airport and sat right on the beach. As for the beach, it was immaculately clean and had an exceptional amount of loungers for those who like to relax with the sound of the sea. The views are fantastic and you can walk quite a way out into the sea and you’re only waist-deep – worth doing to experience the beautiful sea life Sharm has to offer.
We stayed in Sea Club Resort on an all-inclusive basis and on the resort there are 3 hotels – Sea Club, Sea Life and Sea Garden. If you go all inclusive, you are able to use the facilities of all three, such as the pools, bars and restaurants. The pools we used in the Club and Garden resorts are immaculate and of a great size. We never had any issues in terms of getting pool-side loungers at any point through our holiday. There’s plenty to do at the hotel – there’s a gym, various pools with activities such as water aerobics, water polo and volleyball and on-site snorkeling training for those looking to do such an excursion.
The food was great, no issues whatsoever. There was always plenty of choice and variation each night as they hold theme nights in the main buffet restaurant – things such as Egyptian, Italian and English etc. However, if you aren't keen on the particular theme, they always have the ‘usual/normal’ food such as potatoes, rice, meat etc. Furthermore, there are other restaurants including a beach-side restaurant, Japanese and French (these you have to book and are permitted to one free booking for these). We only made use of the beach-side ‘Il Pescatore’ restaurant and it was lovely. You have a choice of which dishes you would like. The service in all of the restaurants is first-class and the waiters can’t do enough to help you and keep you topped up with beverages. In particular, look out for Taher in the main buffet restaurant in the Sea Club Resort – amusing is an understatement!
I’ll keep this one short – everyone from reception staff, to waiters and waitresses to the room service staff and gardeners – every single member of staff deserves an incredible amount of credit for keeping the hotel in such an amazing condition and a very high standard.
OUT OF THE HOTEL:
We didn't plan to go to do excursions but we ended up going on a quad biking afternoon in the desert. I would highly recommend this. Me and my wife went out on one buggy (shared although you can have one each if you wish). Such a thoroughly enjoyable experience – however, take your sunglasses and a headscarf; it gets a bit sandy and dusty out there. You can also go on boat trips, snorkeling in the Red Sea and other internal activities such as massages and spa treatments.
10 out of ten for us – we thoroughly enjoyed it the holiday and would recommend to absolutely anyone, whether you’re a family with children or just a couple. There’s something for everyone here. Would we go back? Without a shadow of doubt!
