I have just returned back from a week's holiday at Laguna Vista Gardens with my boyfriend and we had a lovely holiday. We stayed 25th Feb-4th March 2013 and we would return again.
We arrived early evening and were welcomed by reception staff and shown to our rooms, shortly followed by our cases. The first thing that struck me was the lack of lights illuminating the grounds at night which made finding our room a little difficult but it wasn't a problem.
The rooms or huts are lovely, so unique and really spacious and clean. Photo's don't quite do it justice! The bathroom has a walk in shower and no bath but again this suited us as we prefer showers. The lighting is pretty rubbish in the rooms and our room had a few bulbs out which were not repaired during our stay. Plenty of wardrobe sapce, in fact we had a wardrobe each. Lockable safe available in one of the wardrobes. This leads me on to an issue we had. Upon arrival the safe was locked even though it states the safe should be left open on check out. We called for assistance and received help to rectify this straight away. One morning however as we were returning from breakfast we caught a staff member in the wardrobe round our safe... Luckily nothing was missing but it appears we returned back just in time as we later found out other guests weren't so lucky!
Beds are twin beds too so be prepared to transform your room and fall down the gap every night!
Freshly made omelettes for breakfast every morning...Perfect! Plenty of choice should you not be an omelette fan. Lunch and evening meal were fine. We aren't picky eaters and we managed to find something different to eat every meal. There are the usual staples such as rice and vegetables but always something nice. Soups were delicious as was the freshly made pasta.
Cannot understand how people can complain about the food choices.
You get sealed bottled water each meal time in the restaurant. Wine is only available in the restaurant at meal times. The spirits are locally produced and to be honest are not pleasant! I am usually a vodka drinker but I had to drink gin and lemonade whilst at Laguna Vista as it was the only palatable spirit there! The lager is nice too though.
General hotel information:
The hotel is lovely and picturesque. The grounds are clearly well maintained and offer such a lovely surrounding for a relaxing week away. Pools are freezing, so much so I could not brave a dip although my other half ventured in a couple of times! The staff are extremely friendly and always make you feel welcome. You do get pestered for the spa and excursions however if you say no they generally take the hint and leave you be. The music by the pool is tedious... It seems to be the same CD played continously from morning to night and it consists of 5 songs so iPod's may be essential! The hotel is in a great location and should you get fed up of the food you can always eat out at the numerous chain restaurants like you would find at home just on the doorstep.
Special mention to Jamal in the restaurant who's catchphrase of "enjoy your meal" always brought a smile to our face and also Ahmed at the pool bar... He is a definite credit to the hotel!!
We would definitely return to this hotel.
Always happy to answer questions if anybody has any.
